- The sources are not entirely clear on this point.
- Essex Institute: "having been brought from England in the Arabella"
- Postman: "the tree came to Massachusetts from England on the ship Arbella"
- My impression, based partly on this source, was that a seedling was brought from England. –Black Falcon (Talk) 17:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
