Frenzied?

[edit]

"However, due to the current trend of frenzied residential development in the area that figure is set to rise." - I think "frenzied" is implying a point of view. There isn't a source to support such a trend. Matt-thepie 17:25, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frenzied is the word I would also use, every part of the Ellon conurbation is being snapped up for development, now including the whole industrial plot where the new Tesco's has been built. This construction dominates the entry to the town from the north A90 exit.

Yes but - you have to show a source to support claims you make. The fact that several shops in the centre of the town have no tenants does not imply frenzied to me, nor being snapped up for development. The "Industrial Plot" consists of JRD and Tesco. Hardly Manhattan is it? 172.159.138.145 11:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"In the lower estuary a few miles southeast of Ellon, the presence of tern colonies is notable, since there are several distinct species that utilize the north banks of the Ythan Estuary, and comprise a meaningful percentage of the breeding pairs of terns in the United Kingdom. In the summer terns can be observed feeding in their characteristic diving patterns approximately 600 to 900 meters inland from the estuary[2]. " This has very little to do with the town. Especially as the town actually on the Ythan Estuary is Newburgh. Matt-thepie 17:27, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"The population seems to know no limits, and as young families seek to escape the hustle and bustle of city life they leave Aberdeen and flock to places like Ellon, Inverurie and Banchory. A house that cost £100,000 in 1980 may only be within reach of millionaires today. The same upwards trend can be seen in all aspects of Ellon life. New shops are opening, housing developments are springing up everywhere and Ellon is becoming one of Aberdeen's main dormitory towns. There is also an Athletics Club based at the Meadows, more info can be found their website (Link below)" - Not sourced. Possible POV.

Removed unsubstantiated house price increase statement but kept corrected 4th highest increase in 2006 vs. 4th highest (as was stated) in Scotland. Harami2000 00:04, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Noel Machine

[edit]

Ellon's main attraction is the 'Noel Machine' located in the popular Tolbooth public house. Stroke his beard for luck! Spam I think 172.142.97.91 17:10, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Much work to do?

[edit]

Removed some POV comments, incorrect ref. to "nearby" Memsie (cairns) (not "nearby" and no association with Ellon). Other unsubstantiated comments still likely within text ("Pictish province of Buchan prior to 400BC"?) and feels as though lacking in general content for a relatively important town within Aberdeenshire, IMHO. See also?

[edit]

There's a section "See also" with links to Ythan Wells and Annie Lennox. I'm not sure either of these have any connection with Ellon. Should this section be removed? --Deskford (talk) 20:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed these in the process of expanding the article. Please replace them if you know of relevant connections. --Deskford (talk) 18:20, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BrewDog?

[edit]

No mention of BrewDog although they have been in Ellon since 2012 and seem to be one of the major industries. BrewDog Kiltpin (talk) 13:55, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
