Biased Material?
[edit]Hey, so is this article just written by an energy company? Sentences like "A broad and diverse group of retail energy suppliers who share the common vision that competitive retail energy markets deliver a more efficient, customer-oriented outcome than a regulated utility structure" read as straight-up propaganda. That sentence isn't even grammatically correct as a standalone, I think it's probably just copy-pasted from the "Retail Energy Supply Association" website it links to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.217.223.178 (talk) 14:23, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Original research?
[edit]This article appears to contain much original research. Can anyone confirm? Balfa 19:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
This seems to be a Texas-centric article
[edit]The US section of the article appears heavily focused on Texas. Other states have deregulated markets as well. Tckma (talk) 20:15, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- As I recall the deregulation argument, Texas was often cited in discussions among deregulation advocates who were working in renewable energy as competitive providers of clean energy. MaynardClark (talk) 15:14, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Out of date, misleading
[edit]This article is out of date and misleading.
For example, prices cited are no longer relevant. The deregulated market price for electricity is now lower than most regulated markets in Texas (March, 2010).
This article does not cite relevant, academic research on the topic. As of March, 2010, see Kiesling and Kleit "Electricity Restructuring: The Texas Story" for an academic analysis of the Texas competitive electricity market.

Community Choice Aggregation
[edit]Please do not merge CCA with this topic. CCA is a specific topic all its own and is regular parlance for this process and protocol nationally. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.110.20.252 (talk) 05:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Proposed merger of Maryland Electric Deregulation into this article
[edit]There has been a tag on merging Maryland Electric Deregulation into this article since Nov. 2009. I vote against it as the Maryland article is state specific discussion with little to offer to the more generic article Electricity provider switching. Deanlaw (talk) 19:50, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
No value to this article
[edit]I'd go so far as to say that this item should be deleted. It doesn't add any independent value - anything of interest just links somewhere else - and the only substantive part (re: Texas) is badly outdated and somewhat biased. The world will not be a lot worse off if this simply goes away. ΨνPsinu 21:15, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
All of the Above
[edit]Every criticism raised above still stands, and it still provides no useful or reliable information. Actions towards deletion should be taken. Cottletj (talk) 15:55, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
