Electric Bike, Electric Bikes in UK, electric scooters, electric bicycle, electric wheelchairs The Seattle EV Association was formed over 24 years ago by a small group of visionaries dedicated to the proposition that “ If Detroit won’t build affordable electric cars for us, we should do it ourselves.” and help anyone else who would like to do the same. Through public education, demonstration, and proliferation of EVs of all kinds, be they electric cars, trucks, boats, or bikes. We have MONTHLY meetings. For time and place, check our web site, or call our information line.

Essentially the most common EV consists of a small compact (donor) car with stick shift, where all gas or diesel components are taken out, and replaced with batteries, electric motor, charger, relays, speed control, and gauges. The hardware usually costs around $8000. and the labor to put it all together, if one cannot do it ones self is approximately $2000. These are AVERAGES. More speed, more performance, more range…. costs more. Performance of such an average car, would be highway speeds up to 70 mph, and range at more modest speeds of up to 50 miles on a single charge. Might not sound like much, but it could replace HALF of all GAS and Diesel cars which start up their engines each and every day here in King County. And every one would get to work on time, and no one would run short of charge before returning home at night. Charging would cost ONE FIFTH of what the average car owner pays for GAS for the same average daily commute !

Below is a partial list of Web Sites dealing with aspects of Electric Cars in the Northwest, and the US.

The future of transportation today

Miles is vaporware for now, and there's a lot of skepticism about their claims. And if ZAP is any measure of the quality of Chinese-built electric cars, I wouldn't hold my breath even if they did pull it off. -- Rei (talk) 19:37, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Electric vehicle

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Electric vehicle's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:24, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

False information based on nothing more than a tweet

A blatant falsehood can be found in the History#Reintroduction section. It states that China launched the 1st bi-articulated bus in the world last April, which is obviously false seeing that those have been around for decades already. --SwissTHX11384EB (talk) 12:23, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Yes it has now been awaiting a secondary source for over a year. The article is not protected so you should be able to correct it yourself. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:06, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Electric vehicle definitions section

I added the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_vehicle#Electric_vehicle_definitions section. The intention is to make it clear what the official definitions of electric vehicles are. I am finding more and more creative vehicle manufacturers passing off diesel hybrids as something more advanced. The only link I could find (after a lot of searching) was the one linked to but if anyone can find something more sophisticated I think that may be more beneficial. My current experience is that a particular hybrid bus is being passed off as a range-extended electric bus when it is solely powered by diesel, they define REEV as only supplementing the plug in power. Request for independent editor

Hello, Due to my conflict of interest, I cannot create this article myself. I am requesting that an independent editor create the article instead. It's about Ecocar Motors, an EV hybrid US manufacturer, that is a young enterprise. I have the article ready and well written, according to Wikipedia guidelines. I can't add it because my relationship with the company is that I am an employee. Can someone help me with this? EllaAtEcocar (talk) 23:07, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

@EllaAtEcocar: Hello Ella! This isn't the right place to ask this but I will answer you regardless. Are you sure your company is Notable according to Wikipedia's criteria? I'd be more than willing to help you create the article, however I would much rather not waste my time trying to write an article that is doomed to fail. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:40, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Dear @Blaze WolfBlazeWolf
Ecocar Motors Company is a new automotive corporation that is emerging to become a leading manufacturer of three energy sources powered vehicles, utilizing hydrogen, solar, and electric advanced technologies.
As a new player in the automotive industry, Ecocar Motors is at the forefront of technological innovation and sustainable transportation. Our use of hydrogen, solar, and electric power is a remarkable feat and sets us apart from other traditional vehicle manufacturers.
By incorporating these advanced technologies into our production process, we are helping to pave the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future. Their vehicles have the potential to revolutionize the transportation industry, providing a viable alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
I believe this information plus what I have prepared, would be a valuable article on Wikipedia, as it highlights Ecocar Motors innovative approach to vehicle manufacturing and our commitment to sustainability.
Thank you for any consideration. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further information.
Best regards, Ella EllaAtEcocar (talk) 00:37, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
@EllaAtEcocar: That doesn't answer my question whatsoever. Wikipedia does not care what your company has to say about itself. If you cannot provide me at least 3 reliable sources on your company then I won't try writing an article. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:40, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your message. We have some sources, but we have to track them back. So let's stay in touch. There are many different types of notable references that are considered good on Wikipedia, so according to you, for an automotive company, which ones would be the best? EllaAtEcocar (talk) 01:01, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
@EllaAtEcocar: Well I suggest you read WP:RS and WP:RSPBlaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:07, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

Section Name Change

I renamed the “Polluter pay principle” section, “Government incentivization.” I believe this removes potential political bias due to the original title not acknowledging the wheel-to-well and mining emissions EV owners would also be responsible for. If “Polluter pay principle” is restored as the section title, I think we would need to cite and explain the origin of the phrase as well.

gas-powered vehicles, which generate greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.

All gas-powered vehicles generate greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. We don't need that clause cluttering up the caption. It is redundant with text already in the article. An editor has suggested that we need that clause to explain the trend away from the gas power. If that is what you want to say, then say that and provide a reliable source that backs it up. Otherwise, you are setting up facts and asking the reader to reach a conclusion. That is poor writing and synthesis ( WP:SYN ), which is not allowed. Constant314 (talk) 14:21, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

User:Constant314, I see your point re WP:SYN in this context. Thanks for your civility in taking the time to explain. —RCraig09 (talk) 14:54, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
I'd rather be civil than right. Cheers! Constant314 (talk) 14:59, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
