Material from the main article

[edit]

I found this material added to the main article. Since it deals with specific incidents, it should be here, I think. I'm putting it here so that someone who works on this article regularly (Darwish?) can integrate it if and as they see fit. Jalapenos do exist (talk) 14:18, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aerial bombing, tank shelling and armoured bulldozers eliminated the productive capacity of some of Gaza's most important manufacturing plants during the conflict. The biggest Palestinian food-processing plant, Alweyda was devastated, as were both Abu Eida, the largest ready-mixed concrete producer, and the Al Badr flour mills, with the biggest storage facilities in the Strip. All three had close and long-standing contact with Israeli partner firms and suppliers. The owners are on record as stating they see this as part of an economic war to make Gaza dependent on Israel. Gaza Schools

[edit]

I'm new to this article so maybe this has come up already but I noticed that this AP story[1] gives the number of schools destroyed and damaged (37) plus closed as refugee shelters (18). I hope that's helpful. --JGGardiner (talk) 10:29, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks alot JGGardiner. I've archived[2] the story now. I'll find the place to add this info soon. --Darwish07 (talk) 08:30, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have come here to change the article's tense from present to past and to chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum. Any objections?

But in a more serious tone, see for example this Reuters article: Gaza shelves stocked, but hope in short supply. At least some manifestations of the humanitarian crisis are no longer current.—Biosketch (talk) 08:05, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a humanitarian crisis or not?

[edit]

Without getting into ideologically tainted discussions, there seems to be some dispute as to whether the is any humanitarian crisis at all. I added a comment by the Deputy ICRC head in Gaza saying that there isn't one. The article comes only four months after the article citing the ICRC as saying that there is a crisis. I'm assuming that there is no accepted definition of what is an "humanitarian crisis" and the bald assumption that one exists (or existed) in Gaza may therefore be unverifiable. It would seem to make sense that at least some contrary views from credible sources should be included.Olesker (talk) 11:10, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
