Edward Kellogg, economist
[edit]In addition to Edward W. Kellogg, who already seems to be represented in a Wikipedia article, there was another "Edward Kellogg" (1790-1858), an American businessman who wrote a book entitled, "Labor and Other Capital" (1849). While I don't know anything about this person, I am vaguely acquainted with his book. In at least the latter regard (his book) and perhaps the former as well (his business career), his contributions seem significant.
Should Wikipedia provide an article regarding this person? If so, it seems there should be a "disambiguation" to distinguish him from "Edward W. Kellogg", for whom a Wikipedia article has already been written.
I will provide any assistance I can. But I'm not sure how to enlist help from "experts" in this regard. Please let me know what needs to be done, and if help from me is needed. David Kendall (talk) 04:27, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to be so late getting back to you. I see you've been editing extensively in Economic democracy lately, and that this fellow is famous enough to have a paragraph in my New Columbia Desk Encyclopedia. Anyway, the technical parts of starting a new article are covered in Help:Starting a new page and if you get some of the details wrong it's generally not a big problem as long as you can call favorable attention to the new article. So, if you've got enough material that isn't taken from a copyrighted source, I suggest starting the article, with appropriate categories and links both outward and especially inward from existing related articles.
- As for the disambiguator, I've got some spare time tonight and will convert the redirect. Oh. You'll be wanting a suggestion for the name of the article. For an example, see where Thomas Jones leads. Usual procedure pretty much dictates that your article be called Edward Kellogg (economist). You can just click on that link and write the new stub version of his article. Then edit the disambiguator Edward Kellogg to link to it, assuming I've succeed by then in converting it to a disambiguator. And if you don't know how to do some of these things, ask. Perhaps ask here, but especially ask for help in the talk page of your new article. Jim.henderson (talk) 03:00, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
