Ukrainian Jews?

[edit]

What is wrong with the Category:Ukrainian Jews? Bagritsky was a Jew and he is from Ukraine? Can the person (or persons) removing the category outline their objections? Meanwhile I have restored the category Alex Bakharev (talk) 20:33, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

It tells: "Bagritsky managed to covertly criticise the growing oppressive Stalinist regime.[1]" based on this ref. Is it based to his famous (quoted in this ref):

.. Your loneliness nicely befits our Time.
Look back to see that only foes are around.
Reach out for friends, but they are no more.
But if He orders you, “Lie!” — do so.
But if He orders you, “Kill!” — obey

More literate translation:

Our Century is waiting on the pavement,
It is focused like an armed sentry.
Go ahead, and do not be afraid to stand beside it.
You are just as lonely as your time.

Look around you: there are only enemies;
Stretch out your hands, and you will find no friends;
But if it orders you to lie, you shall lie,
If it orders you to kill, you shall kill.

or something else, according to the reference? Obviously, he is usually described in books as most "pro-Soviet" poet (his poem "Death of pioneer", etc. )[1]. Hmm.. there is a connection between Bagritsky and N. Gumilev [2],[3]. My very best wishes (talk) 19:34, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One book even tells that "a peculiarly bloodthirsty rhetoric of Bolshevik violence" was developed in works by Eduard Bagritsky. My very best wishes (talk) 04:34, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest to include this quotation in article. This is most highly cited poem by Bagritsky (not sure that translation is good enough). Well known poet A. Surkov quoted it during his speech during first congress of Union of Soviet Writers to remind colleagues that proletarian humanism includes one important component, and that is hatred. Here is a comment about this from article [4] in Znamya by philologist: Good comment. That is a bit trivial, but there is a much bigger POV worthy of inclusion: in the 50's another poet made a claim that EB ritually rapes Russia in his poem "February". Find it!--Galassi (talk) 11:40, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All right. So, if you do not mind, I can go ahead and add a section about his literary work. There is no such section. The claim about raping Russia is of course ridiculous. Yes, I saw this poem about the girl, and frankly was unimpressed by its quality. This is unlike his other work which makes him one of the best Soviet poets. If this is a really good poetry, I simply enjoy reading it, no matter if it was written by religious nationalists like Hieromonk Roman or super-communists like Bagritsky.
