Page moved

[edit]

Paged moved to Eden ministry to bring in line with other lists of ministers. “Ministry” pages are primarily lists of ministers, whereas “Party Government xxxx-xxxx” articles provide more information. The same procedure was followed here. RGloucester (talk) 03:01, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ministry/Government

[edit]

Most of the pages for specific British governments have (or had until very recently)

(1). a page with mainly or only those ministers who actually sat round the Cabinet table, called '[Name of Prime Minister] Government'

(2). a page which also includes junior ministers, called '[Name of Party] Government, 19xx - 19xx'. Compare

Third National Ministry and Third National Government 1935–1937

Fourth National Ministry and Fourth National Government 1937–1939

Chamberlain War Ministry and War Government 1939–1940

Churchill War Ministry and Coalition Government 1940–1945

Churchill Caretaker Ministry and Caretaker Government 1945

Callaghan ministry and Labour Government 1974–1979.

As this one falls into the second category, I propose to revert the redirect. Alekksandr (talk) 14:48, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

“Ministry” means all members of government, not just the cabinet. Furthermore, Cabinet members are easy to find in this list, since they are bolded and emphasized. There is no reason to have one barebones article with just the cabinet members. This provides a comprehensive list and eliminates redundancy. The reason the 1974-1979 one remains is due to the fact that it is harder to split, as it includes both the ministers of the Callaghan and the Second Wilson ministries. Furthermore, the Australian and Canadian ministry pages follow this policy. RGloucester (talk) 19:31, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
