[edit]His hattrick against England is quite disputable as the best. Going by average, well, Nick Knight didn't finish his career with an average of 70. In the year of Brandes' hattrick, none of his victims averaged greater than 27 and the three batsmen scored 3 half centuries and no centuries between them. Tendulkar alone scored 4 half centuries in 1991, averaging almost 35, showing he was by far more dangerous, even so early in his career. Shastri also scored one 50 and one 100.
What will be remembered is class; who had illustrious careers and who will be renowned for their feats. The class of Azharuddin, Tendulkar and even Ravi Shastri is a league apart from Knight, Crawley and Hussain.
Fair enough, the statement is cited with a very respectable reference so I won't change it, but I am certain that the greater consensus agrees with me. MrAngy 14:27, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
