(Country in infobox)

Why does the infobox for this article list England as the only country for the Football League Championship, when the Championship includes the side Cardiff City F.C., a welsh side? The article for the FA Women's Premier League National Division lists the countries as Wales and England, since it includes Cardiff City L.F.C.. Which is correct? Listing it as an England-only league as it is done for the Football League Championship or listing it as an England- and Wales league as it is dones for the Women's Premier League? I myself am baffled at this, someone keeps on insisting only England should be used... it's like saying the NHL should only display the American flag since it is HQed in New York City. --Howard the Duck 04:58, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
My problem is that it implies that the Championship is both and English and a Welsh league, which it is not. The fact that a Welsh team competes in the league does not mean that the league represents Wales. In contrast to the NHL comparison, there is no separate comparable pro hockey league in Canada, while there is a comparable league system in Wales (granted not in terms of quality, of course). Placing the Welsh flag in the info box is potentially confusing, and I see no problem with the note in the table of teams as a perfectly good alternative. - Pal 19:29, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Then it implies that the Championship is not played on Welsh soil when it is played there for like 23 times a year. The infobox is used to display where the league is played, ergo the NHL both has  United States and  Canada, the NFL only has  United States. I believe the previous version with a tiny note saying a club from Wales participates would be fine. --Howard the Duck 02:20, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

I would suggest that as the league is part of the English FA's pyramid structure, and not under the juristiction of the Welsh FA, then the Welsh flag should be removed. Comparisons with the NHL don't really make sense, as the NHL is not part of a larger organisation (in this case UEFA, who regard all English leagues as English). I'd also remove the Welsh flag from all other English pyramid leagues, and the Ladies league. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.252.54.209 (talk) 10:20, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

(Dave Kitson)

At least three of Dave Kitson's goals were scored in cup competition, noting making him the top goalscorer in the football league championship.

(Map)

This page needs a map, like the one in the EPL wikipedia page, showing where the clubs are located.

Article title

Why the article's title is not the official name "The Football League Championship"?--ClaudioMB 19:17, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Opening paras

Why all the emphasis on viewing figures, finances and attendances in the brief opening 2 paragraphs? Is someone from Coca-Cola trying to prove they've done their homework or is it actually supposed to be corporate blurb to satisfy sponsors (both currant and would-be) and not really an encyclopedia entry after all? Is this really what Joe Blow wants to read - or needs to know -when looking up the subject? Plutonium27 (talk) 17:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Especially when dealing with total figures, which are basicly worthless. Going by total attendance baseball blows american football out of the water. But I doubt anyone would seriously consider baseball more popular than American football.89.246.56.249 (talk) 19:17, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

More Details Please

Could someone please add some more basic details about this league.. like how many matches per season, how the finals and semi's work etc. That was what I was looking for when I looked this up :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.182.138.145 (talk) 14:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

I added some info. Franmars (talk) 14:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Re-arrange tables

I've added the previous winners of the league, which was a notable omission. I think the clubs and stadia tables could easily be merged into one table, especially as the tables are sortable. Any objections if I go ahead with this? --Jameboy (talk) 18:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Broadcasting

Does anyone know the exact details of the brodcasting arrangments, both in the UK and Overseas, as I think that could be quite interesting. Lord Cornwallis (talk) 23:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

I hope no-one minds, but I've just removed vandalism from this talk page, which referred to football as "for faggots". Digifiend (talk) 13:23, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Said vand was by an IP at 18:04, 24 May 2008 (and same vandal started an all-vand section a minute later, which DF also removed.

Player nationalities

What is meant by "current" player nationalities? This breakdown surely cannot be maintained and will change very frequently. Probably best to remove or re-write the section. --Jameboy (talk) 17:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

This section is irrelevant, unmaintainable (the breakdown is likely to change frequently) and not properly sourced. The discussion about the England team is not applicable here, since the England players play almost exclusively for clubs in the Premier League. Are there any objections to me removing this section? --Jameboy (talk) 11:03, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
No objections lodged. Removed. --Jameboy (talk) 20:48, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Current Top Goalscorers

I've created a table showing the top goalscorers in this division this season. I'll be updating it after each matchday. If anybody has a problem with this, please let me know. Boddefan2009 (talk) 22:44 &:45, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

As the "current" top goalscorers applies only to the current season, the place for this information would seem to be Football League Championship 2008–09 rather than here.
--Jameboy (talk) 11:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Seasonal table

Why is there no table for the current/previous season? Ldfifty (talk) 11:33, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

E.ON Championship

Can't find the source here and now, but worth a mention if someone can find the source? E.ON will take over from Coca-Cola from next season sponsoring the football league. WillDow (Talk) 11:53, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Same user removed the section 16:15, 15 April 2010 without summary or other explanation; i now restore it for clarity of the record.

Map

Wolves appears in completely the wrong place on the map (looks like it is in Dorset or something) but I don't know how to change it. 20:57, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

– The name "Football League" is no longer in use. The EFL's official website refers to the League as "the Sky Bet Championship", but obviously we try to avoid sponsorships in titles. All proposed titles already redirect to each respective article anyway. The name change should reflect each league's current season too, like what already happened with this season's EFL Cup. – As stated above, to keep in line with the rebrand of the league. Since the official name of the league system is sponsored thus depreciated, I feel it being fully spelt out would be preferred option as using the abbreviation would give Leagues One and Two recursive titles (EFL League One/Two).
