Lede
[edit]- Remove comma after "Milan" in the first sentence: The comma was unnecessary and created a pause that disrupted the flow of the sentence.
- I would prefer to keep the "also known..." within commas. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:21, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
Early life
[edit]Dwayne Cooper was raised in Florence, South Carolina, and attended West Florence High School.
Unlink "Florence, South Carolina". It's uncommon linking since it's in the lede.- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
He was involved in many school activities and served as student government president in 1993, during his senior year.
Remove comma after 1993.- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- I can't find any citation to that.
- See Ref #3 at end of next sentence. Source says, "Cooper grew up in Florence and attended West Florence High School. During his time there, he was a standout – a star performer in Knight Edition, a member of almost every club and organization the school had to offer and president of the student body his senior year in 1993." I think having the citation at the end of the paragraph is adequate. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Cooper attended the University of South Carolina, initially planning to major in journalism but opting for theatre. It's fine here.
- Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
Career
[edit]Cooper is an actor and entertainer who competed in drag as Milan on the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.
This looks fine just that there isn't any citation to that. Delink common words.- Citations are not required after each sentence, and many references in the article confirm the subject's participation in the show's fourth season. I don't think any common words are linked. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Since appearing on the show, Cooper has only performed in drag for acting roles, such as when he played a drag queen in the film Spoiler Alert. Please provide the year for the movie so that readers don't take it as the 2022 Spoiler Alert (film).
- Added "circa 2022", since the 2022-published source says "new film". ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- I love challenging article that they become the best form that can. There are few words (sentences) that needs citations. Just ping me when you have placed citations to them. I won't also input the "citation tag" on them. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:43, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- @SafariScribe: Please let me know if any concerns remain. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
Here we go again:
- Pls cite
He was involved in many school activities and served as student government president in 1993 during his senior year.
Even thigh the next article may be supporting it or not.- The inline citation says, "During his time there, he was a standout – a star performer in Knight Edition, a member of almost every club and organization the school had to offer and president of the student body his senior year in 1993." ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
He was part of the cast of Smoky Joe's Cafe which received the award...
Find a date for that "Smoky Joe"s Cafe". There are many name like that on the Internet- I think what's more important to note is when he was recognized as part of the cast, and the prose mentions this was in 2019. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Part of the cast? Why not just "among the cast" or "cast"
- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- In To editor 'Outstanding Ensemble, off-Broadway' at the third annual:, remove the third annual. It isn't needed where there is 2019 at the end of the sentence! (Suggestion)
- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Here
Cooper is also part of the Doo Wop Project
I can see the WP:COMMONNAME is "The Doo Woo Project" perhaps part of The Doo Woo Project and may be along a quotation mark open and closed. What do you think?- I think the current text is fine. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- The project is or may be a group of singers. So, do it be "part" or "member" (something related)
- The prose says "part of" and this is also implied by "supergroup". ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
According to Denise Leslie of the Pagosa Daily Post, Cooper has been described as a "modern day Sammy Davis Jr. meets Barry White"
may reword to Denise Leslie in Pagasa Daily Postdescribed him as "a modern day Sammy Davis Jr. meets Barry White."- No, that makes the attribution incorrect. She did not describe him at that, the source says, "Dwayne Cooper has been compared to a 'modern day Sammy Davis Jr. meets Barry White' and..." I think the current text is fine. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- The above was because Denise seems to be a singer from my search. Is that true? I will check that description during reference spot checking
On Drag Race, Milan placed ninth overall
overall at where?- Within the Drag Race competition. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- It's true you the article told us about his name "Milan". It's more of already using his name "Cooper". Do you continue with that or what he is known in Drag
- For claims about his drag persona, we use "Milan". For claims about the subject out of drag, we refer to the subject by his last name (Cooper). This is consistent with other biographies about drag performers. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
On the fourth episode ("Queens Behind Bars"), she placed in the bottom two of an acting challenge and defeated Madame LaQueer in a lip-sync to "Trouble" (2003) by Pink.
This purely looks confusing.- Who is "she" after the "...Bars")" (or was acting as "she")
- "She" refers to Milan, Cooper's drag persona. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- I would reword perhaps "In "Queens Behind Bars", the fourth episode of the television show, Cooper/Milan was placed in the button two of an acting challenge."
- Then another sentence, "He defeated Madame LaQueer in a lip-sync of the 2003 song "Trouble" by American singer Pink."
- Your suggestion is inconsistent with how we use gender pronouns for drag performers. I've kept a single sentence, because I want it to be clear that both things happened in the same episode, but implemented your preferred wording re: "2003 songs by". ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Unlink "lip-sync"
- Biographies of drag performers should link to lip sync the first time, as this is helpful context for readers. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Who is "she" after the "...Bars")" (or was acting as "she")
Milan impersonated Diana Ross for the fifth episode's Snatch Game challenge.
can be "For the challenge of the fifth episode "Snatch Game, Milan impersonated Diana Ross." Try to break sentences to a "fitting reading".- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Her performance landed her in the bottom two again, and she beat Kenya Michaels in a lip-sync to Madonna's "Vogue" (1990). Change after lip-sync to "lip-sync to 1990 song "Vogue" by American singer Madonna" Madonna though the primary topic may mean another thing for sime people especially like me, a Nigerian!—thats the reason for the "American singer"
- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Forget my linking. Link as in the article except the one I suggest shouldn't be linked
Milan was eliminated on the sixth episode
would you consider adding the name of the episode "Float Your Boat"- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
...when she placed in the bottom two of a design challenge requiring contestants to create and wear pride floats, and lost a lip-sync against Jiggly Caliente to "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga. Milan removed her dress, jewelry, and wig during "Born This Way"
what do you think in "...when she was placed in the bottom two of the design challenge which required contestants to create and wear pride floats. She lost a lip-sync against Jiggly Caliente to the 2011 song, "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga. During/after the challenge/loss, Milan removed her dress, jewelry and wig."- I like it! Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- What is "pride float"
- I've changed to ""pride-themed floats" and linked both pride and float. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
For one runway look on the show
break this down; why not say "During one of the runway show, Milan wore a tuxedo outfit which was inspired by Janelle Monáe."- Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
@SafariScribe: I have made these changes based on your feedback. Please let me know if any concerns remains. Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:50, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
Ethan LaCroix and Jillian Anthony ranked her eighth in Time Out New York's 2015 list of New York City-based contestants..
pls use Time Out for Time Out (magazine): you can't add 'New York's'- The current format is correct, since in this case the New York version is being used as a source. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:14, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
Billboard's Patrick Crowley ranked her number 23 in a 2016 list of Snatch Game performances.
Here, I equally regard the phrase. Isn't Billboard the reviewing board, like in the platform. I would say, "Patrick Crowley for Billboard ranked her as number 23...": it took mostly the magazine as a platform.- Changed to "Patrick Crowley ranked her number 23 in Billboard's 2016 list..." ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:16, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Like "alt" for images, observe Them by putting "American online LGBT magazine" before it
- @SafariScribe: Done ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:16, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
Source checking
[edit]- Source 1 said "A great dancer and all-around nice person, Dwayne Milan captured hearts and minds on the Logo show RuPaul’s Drag Race." However, does this means his name was "Cooper". I think for GA, the source should analyse his name and changes! Suggest citing it to source 5, which talked about him, changing his name.
- Source 2 looks like a blog/forum site. Remove entirely if possible
- Source 11 is good at least seeing the editorial board
- Source 12 seems reliable by seeing the submission guidelines
- I found out that Source 4 is a promotional reference — Preceding unsigned comment added by SafariScribe (talk • contribs) 09:40, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Source 15: I don't see Decider as reliable. Based on the about here
Others
[edit]- Add "U.S" after South Carolina in "Early life and education"
- Add "subscription access" for source 3 in same section
Cooper attended the University of South Carolina, initially planning to major in journalism but opting for theatre
perhaps I would improve readability by saying "Cooper went to the University of South Carolina with the initial plan to major in journalism but ended up pursuing theatre instead." (Suggestion)- Move
Cooper is an actor and entertainer who competed in drag as Milan on the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Since appearing on the show, Cooper has only performed in drag for acting roles, such as when he played a drag queen in the film Spoiler Alert. (c. 2022).
to the beginning of subsection RuPaul's Drag Race - Begin the "Career" section removing
On stage, Cooper has...
and beginning it from "Cooper" - I don't see a reason for RuPaul's Drag Race, a subsection in the "Career". Suggest removing and merge with the remaining article
- Lead needs re-write but that should be after all; to help in final analysing.
- Comment: Based on what I'm seeing in the article, it doesn't currently meet the criteria for Good Article (GA) status. If necessary, another editor can step in to help. As I mentioned before, I'd really like to see this article achieve GA status. I'll continue to add more context to the article until it meets the criteria outlined in WP:GA, ensuring that it's comprehensive enough for anyone, regardless of background, to find it valuable. Without the sources I mentioned earlier, this article would be quite thin. While it's important to provide context for actors or television personalities, it's worth noting that short articles can still meet GA standards. It's a challenging process, but I appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good work, and I'll be here waiting for further improvements. Thank you! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:27, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

- Another Believer, your response doesn't seem encouraging, especially in a way that we need to make this review together. I don't know what might have come up, but as you've said.
