Outrageous Cost and Lame Competition
[edit]In Australia, a six-pack of 330ml bottles costs $36, a 750ml longneck costs $16. lets just say the price is extremely off-putting, unless you live, drink and breathe high-quality ales as an unusual lifestyle choice. another one is titje, which i like to refer as "tittie" Sydneysiders should check out Liquor on Parade, anzac parade kingsford is quite possibly the best place to buy these ales. Dan Murphys across the road struggles to cater for beer purists and as such should be avoided unless locally brewed versions of international beers is your thing. Both stock Duvel, but i'd stick with the smaller retailer across the street. Jivesucka (talk) 18:16, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
FUD
[edit]Duvel really is one of my favorite bears. But recently someone tried to ruin my enjoyment by stating that Duvel-Moortgat is one of the major sponsors of Vlaams Belang (a Belgian right wing extremist party, who's been condemned for racism under Belgian law in it's previous form, namely Vlaams Blok) and that I thus, by drinking it, was sponsoring a racist party. A statement which he obviously couldn't prove and when I asked him where he got the interesting story (note the absence of the term fact) it seemed to have been rooted in hearsay. If there is some proof of this statement, please link the proof from the wiki entry, otherwise stop trying to ruin someone's enjoyment of this excellent beer.

The rumour is mentioned on the Dutch-language page about Duvel. According to that Albert Moortgat was mayor at the time of WW2 and was close to the occupation. Later generations of the family have distanced themselves from the far right, however. 79.69.217.176 (talk) 14:41, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
De Koninck
[edit]No mention of the merger with (or was it the acquisition of) Antwerp-based De Koninck Breweries? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.65.145.142 (talk) 17:43, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Public or Private?
[edit]The Infobox claims this brewery is a private company, but the text says it went public in 1999. Which is it? 184.209.4.168 (talk) 21:02, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
