Fair use rationale for Image:Dune (german band)-Dune.jpg
[edit]Image:Dune (german band)-Dune.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:25, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Length of album seems incorrect
[edit]The length of the album seems to be incorrect. I could plug it into my CD player, but that would constitute original research. Haven't found any references on the web either. 213.84.89.224 (talk) 18:44, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Dune (Dune album) → Dune (1995 album) – WP:PRECISE ambiguous disambiguation. There's a 1984 album for Dune called Dune located at Dune (soundtrack) so has insufficient disambiguation to identify the topic. The current title should point to the disambiguation page Dune (disambiguation). – 70.51.45.76 (talk) 12:18, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:47, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- But Dune in the first case is a band In ictu oculi (talk) 12:47, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
@70.51.45.76 and In ictu oculi:
- Dune in the first case is not a band. It is a landform; Dune (film) -- Dune is a movie; Dune (franchise) and a franchise; Dune (soundtrack) is an album from 1984 about Dune. Thus, this album title is highly ambiguous, since it is a likely term for the 1984 film soundtrack album. The band is at the pagename "Dune", it is at Dune (band), so it isn't the primary topic of "Dune" thus the album title is doubly highly ambiguous. Further, there are audiobook albums available for the Dune (novel), which is inherently, an album set in the Dune universe, that is an audiobook album for the novel called Dune. The band "Dune" was founded in 1995, a decade after the film, so it isn't the first case in relation to the two either, since the film is earlier. And thus the film's album also is "first" in relation to the two albums. So the current title for this album by the German band fails WP:PRECISE, and needs to be renamed and moved to a different title. -- 70.51.45.76 (talk) 04:53, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - Per WP:ALBUMDAB this is concise and technically named correctly. The hatnote covers any chance of confusion. -- Netoholic @ 23:10, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- While it may be concisely correct. It would also be concisely correct to call the soundtrack album by the same title. So it isn't WP:PRECISE enough, ie. it is too concise, so it is ambiguous. -- 70.51.45.76 (talk) 07:30, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. I agree that (Dune album) is sufficient disambiguation. The soundtrack wouldn't be called (Dune album) ever, and probably (Toto album) first. Nohomersryan (talk) 05:06, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Dune (Dune album) → Dune (1995 album) – WP:AT insufficient disambiguation to identify the topic. There are multiple albums in the Dune science fiction franchise called "Dune", several more have been made since the 2017 move discussion. 2020s people will probably be looking for Dune (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) for the 2021 film, or the other two soundtracks to the same film. Dune (soundtrack) for the 1984 film is also a likely topic. All soundtrack albums are a type of album. All Dune franchise properties are viable for the disambiguator "Dune", so this is very ambiguous -- 65.92.247.66 (talk) 23:35, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose Dune (Dune album) is the only album named Dune by a band named Dune. See WP:ALBUMDAB. This proposal is identical to the one made in 2017 (see above) and nothing has changed since. 162 etc. (talk) 16:55, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- ALBUMDAB if read with the proviso that things other that musical artists exist (ie. "Dune" means things other than a German band, such as an entertainment franchise) it would recommend the odd title Dune (German band Dune album) ;; that ALBUMDAB ignores the existences of anything other than musical artists, is a big oversight. Which would recommend following InfiniteNexus' IAR recommendation below. The concise disambiguator would just use a year. --65.92.247.66 (talk) 01:47, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Is there a non-German band named Dune with an album named Dune? This is already addressed in that WP guide. DA1 (talk) 04:38, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

- Support less confusing/awkward and repetitve. This reminds me of WP:NCEPISODE; some version of this should be integrated into WP:ALBUMDAB, and !voters must remember not to blindly stick to the rules if it is detrimental to the encyclopedia. Guidelines are not perfect and often miss things. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:03, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Agree with user '162 etc.' above. DA1 (talk) 05:29, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- A strict reading of ALBUMDAB is detrimental to the encyclopedia and should be avoided. WP:IAR. InfiniteNexus (talk) 21:10, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Strict reading of which part? ALBUMDAB already states that titles shouldn't be too long. Album Dune by artist Dune isn't too long. The current format of the title is already the best scenario. This Dune is by a band named Dune and changing it to a year format actually diminishes the disambiguation by conflating it with the fictional franchise. DA1 (talk) 04:35, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'd argue that WP:IAR is detrimental to the encyclopedia, and should itself be ignored. 162 etc. (talk) 05:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
