Traffic flow

Anyone got any sources for the traffic flow? I could not find any online, though there may be some written sources. Who recalls the change of traffic flow to the current one-way eastward on north roadway and westward on the southern quays? It was changed early, maybe 9 or 10 am, one Sunday morning in 1989, (I think, though it could have been 1988) and I drove around it about 5 or 10 minutes after the change around. The traffic flow was one-way in the opposite direction to the current arrangement. Long before that it used to be two-way on both sides of the river. I think this would be an interesting addition but WP:OR in not allowed. ww2censor (talk) 00:18, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guliolopez: I found a 1982 RTÉ archive showing the reversal of the traffic flow on Sunday 28 August 1982 to an eastward direction on northside quays and westward on the southern quays.[1] On Sunday 21 August 2017 more modifications were made to provide bus lanes on sections of the quays are reduce other traffic to just one lane on those sections. It also forced traffic that wanted to get from the north quays to the south quays to route all the way around the The Customs House and prohibited making turns onto O'Connell Bridge.[2] Old photographs show two way traffic in the early 20th century but I've no idea when it became one way. Hi @Ww2censor:. I had added a note (with refs) on the traffic management changes to the article on Frank Sherwin Bridge. Based primarily on the "Project history of Dublin’s River Liffey bridges". Which, in honesty, I relied heavily upon when originally creating the "Liffey Bridges" series of stubs way-back-when. I added it to that article because, at the time, there wasn't a "Dublin Quays" article. And Frank Sherwin Bridge was otherwise the main infrastructural development which was built to support that project. An anon extended my short note, albeit it without refs, a few years later. While unreferenced I left the additions. If there are sources that can support it, then great. Certainly Dublin City Council's "Bridges of Dublin" resource now has some stuff which wasn't yet published at the time of my own/original research. In honesty any content (that can be sourced on this) is perhaps better covered here. In the quays article. Rather than covering it exclusively in the Frank Sherwin Bridge article. A short note alongside the other "20th century developments" text might be the best place. Happy to take a stab myself if needed. (PS. Buildings on the quays

There are somewhere in the region of 100 individual webpages on the archiseek website with details about buildings and developments of the quays (see these search results), some refer to old buildings and some are about newer developments. Could be useful if anyone has the time to expend the article based on them. ww2censor (talk) 14:31, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
