The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the proposed spelling, "Draycot", is the WP:COMMONNAME among the most trustworthy sources. (non-admin closure) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:41, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

- I'm looking "Draycot, Oxfordshire" up on Google, and it seems to show "Draycott, Oxfordshire", so moving it might be violating WP:COMMONNAME. I've created a redirect, but tell me if I'm wrong and why we should move it if we should. Helloheart 21:12, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- The correct spelling is with one t. This is what is said on all Ordnance Survey maps of the area and on the minutes of the local parish council and neighbourhood plan:
- Tiddington-with-Albury-Neighbourhood-Development-Plan-Examiners-report.pdf (southoxon.gov.uk)
- It also appears on Google Maps with one t.
- The Wikipedia page was clearly mis-spelled when it was created and correcting it will help to prevent future mis-spellings.
- Please make the correctly spelled page with one T the main page and the page with two Ts can be the redirect. 82.1.185.137 (talk) 09:58, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- Comment. Both names seem to be used. It's so insignificant that it doesn't even appear to have any road signs pointing to it, so we can't even go by those. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:34, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Support the Ordnance Survey (though it doesn't appear in the database under either Geograph OS maps show it with just 1 t) and Google Maps use just 1 "t". Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:17, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes Ordnance Survey and Google Maps have it as one T, as do the local council records listed above. There are also two signs in the village if you "walk" through on Google Streetview which use one T. There appears to be some historic use of two Ts. 185.104.136.51 (talk) 06:59, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- Are there? I couldn't find them. Could you post a link to the Streetview. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:53, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose (weakly): Victoria County History (1962) for the nearby parish of Waterstock has "Draycott village", with double t.[1] Not in itself a justification to deny the proposed change.--AntientNestor (talk) 17:27, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- Support - Per WP:COMMONAME. It is likely that the name of a place may be mis-spelled but that does not mean we should not use the most common correct spelling. The Google results are the results of errors on Wikipedia propagating across the internet (one reason why poorly-written geostubs are bad). The one "t" spelling is also recommended by WP:CRITERIA since it is more accurate and more concise. FOARP (talk) 10:56, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
