Drain (punk band) → Drain (hardcore band) – This page was created under the name Drain (hardcore band) and there was no discussion of a move. The band is overwhelmingly called a hardcore band: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. There's obviously a discussion as to whether hardcore is inherently punk, but in the case of a hardcore band with a sound primarily based in metal, this will confuse people. Note how none of the sources I listed even call them a "hardcore punk band", it's always "hardcore band". I can find one source calling them a punk band: [13] which also mentions hardcore as many times as it does punk. Calling them a punk band is WP:UNDUE. I'm opposed to this move — Drain (punk band) should be the listed form. As a punk labeldude and fan, I'm with you that hardcore and punk are distinct sub-genres springing from the same tree, but that is a difference that has currency only to scene participants. To outsiders, the original tree — punk rock — is the term that has meaning and we should tailor our listings to a general audience, not "experts." A band releasing on Epitaph is a punk band — the fact they play "hardcore punk" rather than "pop-punk" or "street punk" or "'77-style punk" or "punkabilly" or "thrash punk" or any other subgenre of punk (and I'm sure there are a dozen) is neither here nor there. We don't need to overly complicate matters or virtue-signal a personal preference for one subgenre over another.
