Mention the SRLC straw poll?
[edit]Does anyone else think that it might be important to mention the 2010 SRLC straw poll where he only lost to Mitt Romney by 1 vote? It still suggests that Dr. Paul is a contender for the nomination. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.252.38.75 (talk) 22:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Article is not about its title
[edit]At most, one short paragraph in this whole article deals with a draft movement regarding Ron Paul. Most everything else is past recap or straw polls (which, as Paul's 2008 campaign proved, are utterly meaningless). In its current state, this article is a candidate for AfD. Worth is not by association
[edit]1) As Wiki notability is not by association, neither is the value of a political candidate associated with the people who support them. Their support is likely for a myriad of reasons, including: They hate the candidate's opponant, they always vote Libertarian, the candidate has promised a pork barrel project in their area, etc. Someone's support doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the facts of a candidate's platform or with their history.
2) Millions of people support any major candidate. Wikipedia is not the place to list them all.
3) Selection of particular supporters to the exclusion of others is WP:BIAS. I.e., If an editor disliked Candidate X, they could choose supporters who were not to the candidate's credit.
The list of supporters is completely unacceptable. Alpha Ralpha Boulevard (talk) 18:31, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- I wish most editors spent their time explaining their edits like that. Plus, other candidates' articles do not have any supporters listed, so that's the most important argument to me. It's all about making sure NPOV is maintained, because I've seen too many cases where editors would delete similar information only from selected articles. Anyways, good points.--Therexbanner (talk) 20:30, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
