[edit]Douglas (motorcycle) already exists. ww2censor 22:39, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
If you look at start dates you will see that Douglas (motorcycle) did not already exist. Feel free to merge it or whatever is appropriate. Seasalt 01:59, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- I decided to merge to here but you need more history sources. ww2censor 05:02, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- As of the date of the statement, 9 October 2006, Douglas (motorcycle) did exist, but actually Seasalt you had a few hours start on me with your article that I merged into. Hardly worth mentioning now but it does show you that the records kept by Wikipedia mean one cannot get away with any inaccurate statements. Cheers ww2censor 03:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- It was a remarkable co-incidence. No bad. Laughing you spotted it...cant beat the watchlist..Seasalt 04:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
List of Douglas Motorcycles?
[edit]As part of the British motorcycles development it would be useful to have an article List of Douglas Motorcycles that we could easily refer back to on the Category:British motorcycles - I was thinking about moving and linking the list of models here but after seeing the discussion would appreciate views before I do anything? Thanks Tony (talk) 20:17, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Done I waited 6 months and no comments so I've actioned this as List of Douglas motorcycles - please see if you can add some notes to the different models and fill the gaps? Thruxton (talk) 13:42, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the link to this list is very satisfactory. I'd expect/prefer a "MAIN ARTICLE" type link at the beginning of "HISTORY". Obviously, {{main}} is not the right thing to use - do we know of anything else? MalcolmMcDonald (talk) 07:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Founders
[edit]The founders' great grandson informs me that William's brother was Edwin, not Edward. He is not accurate in all his memories, but as there was a grandson called Edwin, known as Teddy, this seems likely. Shipsview (talk) 19:53, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Engine use
[edit]I have been unable to find authoritive sources, but I understand that:
- almost half of the aircraft in the Daily Mail Air Race used Douglas engines
- Willy Messerschmitt used Douglas engines in his prototype aircraft
- Bosch had an agreement with Douglas that the former would be licensed to make Douglas motorcycles in Germany and supply Douglas with magnetos. By 1923, the German manufactured motorcycles were renamed BMW. Shipsview (talk) 21:08, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
