The bulk of this article is copied verbatim from the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website. This is a problem for many of the wikipedia articles on football Hall of Famers, and I'm trying to fix them as I find them. I've removed the offending text here. Anson2995 21:16, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All-Pro

[edit]

Atkins was a 4-time All-Pro according to all sources. It is verifiable. Any other number constitues origianl research72.0.36.36 (talk) 21:20, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lets discuss this at WP:NFL, so more people will respond, hopefully--Yankees10 21:22, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Number 81

[edit]

@Muboshgu: I've contacted someone in the Saints organization to try to sort out the retired number situation. This is an interesting case of WP:VNT; while it's easily verifiable that Atkins' jersey is retired by the Saints, it's also easily verifiable that a player on the Saints is currently wearing his number. Of course, taking this to mean his number isn't retired would probably be WP:OR, even though by definition, if a jersey is retired it can't be worn by anyone else. It is an odd situation. Has this player who is assigned #81 in the present worn it in a game? – Muboshgu (talk) 00:07, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I believe he's a rookie, so no. Lizard (talk) 00:08, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This also isn't a first for the Saints; Jairus Byrd wore No. 31 with the Saints for three seasons. They've got some 'splaining to do. Lizard (talk) 00:11, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Until otherwise noted then, I guess it's verifiable that #81 is retired and in use. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:43, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
