Talk:Doria-Pamphili-Landi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi all,

I moved this page from Doria-Pamphilii-Landi to Doria-Pamphili-Landi to adhere with the general convention (which appears in many other places across Wikipedia) of spelling the Pamphili surname (on English Wikipedia) with 1 final i rather than two.

The Italian convention uses the long i which produces Pamphilj - a note which is made on the majority of pages referencing the Pamphili name.

The page using the alternate spelling now redirects here.

Hope this is not of great inconvenience. Stalwart111 (talk) 03:51, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Doria Landi

[edit]

Both articles describe the same family; the only difference seems to be that one focuses on the history before its renaming, and the other after. Psychonaut (talk) 09:16, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Psychonaut, that's a pretty accurate assessment I think. This article deals more with the Pamphili part while the other mentions them not-at-all. It would have to be a fairly surgical merger but I think the suggestion is probably a good one. Stlwart111 09:26, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A complication I've just discovered is that Doria Landi is a Google-Translated version of it:Doria, which already has a corresponding English article Doria (family). So now there are three potential sources and targets for the merge. —Psychonaut (talk) 09:33, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is also related I think. Stlwart111 09:37, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the main current problem with the page is the duplication of pre-17 century history that relates exclusively to the Doria family and is already covered on this page. Can I suggest a solution would be to simply move the Admiral Andrea Doria material to the Doria (family) page so that it is covered once on a 'family' page, in addition to its coverage on Andrea Doria. Completed a rather modest move of material, as indicated with the 'copied' templates above. Klbrain (talk) 22:54, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
