How does one say "Karan"?

Like the woman's name Karen

Actually, it is pronounced KAH - ran Postcard Cathy 04:46, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Essentials

I came here looking for what DK considers the seven essential pieces a woman should have in her wardrobe. Does anyone know? Should that be added to the article?

I don't think it belongs here. Unless of course she publicly stated it somewhere. But still, I think that belongs in another article. Perhaps it is already written elsewhere?

Lauren K.

Someone put "Lauren K." (nothing else) at the top of the page. I deleted it. But there is Lauren K. stuff in trivia I wanted to delete but didn't. I skimmed the rest of the article and unless I missed something, can't figure out what it is doing in the article. If someone else agrees with me, it should be deleted shouldn't it? 172.131.244.129 23:30, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

LVMH

In the section on Donna Karan Inc and LVMH, I am so unclear on what LVMH is. Maybe I didn't read it carefully enough but I don't see it referenced there. Can someone who knows what it is please add something about it to the section to make it clearer to idiots like me?

This wikipedia article claims the LVMH group owns the brand of DK while providing no details. {Expand} tag added.219.73.11.127 06:07, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Help!

I am doing an art course work project on Donna Karen and am just wondering if anybody knows how i can get hold of her people to ask some unanswered questions...!

Famous Friends?

I deleted that section, thank you very much. Unless these friendships (probably she was was seen rubbing shoulders with Ophrah at some public do)are in any way meaningful to her life, work, perception by the general public- stop it, I'm not even explaining why that section is downright stupid.

Who is she?

The first paragraph (preferable the first sentence) of a Wikipedia biography should always say who the person is and why she is noteworthy. This article doeas neither. I know nothing about her, so I can't add it, but it would be good if somebody who knows who she is did. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.114.184.85 (talk) 13:00, 5 April 2007 (UTC).

I saw that too and fixed it. --Justanother 17:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Donna Karan's Essentials- What are the 7 basic pieces and where can I find them?

I also am looking for a list or illustration of the seven basic pieces of Donna Karan's Essentials. Hopefully someone will post a link or other resource to this information?

Controversy

So, is there an actual reason why that section is there? I feel it to be unnecessary and someone is obviously abusing their "capabilities of editing", so to speak. I see someone has already tried to delete it, but it always manages to come back up. Also, her last name is "KARAN", not "KAREN". If you're gonna spread stuff like that, the least you can do is learn to spell it right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A080408 (talkcontribs) 23:53, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

is there an actual reason why it is there? because it is happening, it is affecting her life, and it is true. Thanks for pointing out the spelling error, I fixed it. There are some who try to put the message in but do it unprofessionally. I am not sure that you understand wiki is all about "spreading stuff" (also known as the truth). I am going to fight to keep it in because I am against censorship to unfriendly truths. SO why do you feel it is unnecessary to "spread stuff like that" unknown user? --Sfiga (talk) 15:11, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Just because this event is "happening" does not warrant shameless advertising of PETA. And yes, it is shameless. I see no one pointing out Khloe Kardashian posing for PETA, and going out clad in fur a week after the campaign poster was out. If you're going to do something like that, the least you can do is delete the link. :/ "Controversy: Donna Karan once promised not to use fur in her fashions, but has not abided by it." No bloodied bunnies being tortured and killed, and you can still evoke your point across just the same. I'm all for your advocacy here, just not in the manner you're doing it in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A080408 (talkcontribs) 10:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I do believe you are referring to the vandalism that has already been removed. "shameless advertising" for PETA? I see we know whom we are dealing with. and maybe we should point that out, I will look into it. Sorry history does not agree with all of your personal views.--Sfiga (talk) 21:26, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I fail to see how posting up a schedule of the "events" affect her life at all. Again, shameless and unnecessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A080408 (talkcontribs) 07:24, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

ok.... I tried to edit it to make it unbiased. For the record i am not, nor never will be a member of PETA. their tactics are too extreme for me. But I also dont like animals being mistreated. if you would like to add or make it more neutral, please create an account and edit it. I do feel this should be pointed out however, about her and peta, but it has to show both sides and be fair and truthful. --Sfiga (talk) 16:51, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

It looks a lot less one sided and biased. Much appreciated. I agree with you on PETA and mistreatment on animals in general. Agreed one hundred percent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.3.80.225 (talk) 16:34, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Cleaned up Controversy Section

I have cleaned up the "Controversy" section, removing multiple biased statements and Weasel Words, all of which are listed below. I see that this has already been cleaned up and re-vandalized multiple times. I believe that the section should remain in the article, as it is cited, verified, and reported-on information. Opinions about PETA aside, I wonder whether this article should be restricted to registered users.

"used questionable and possibly illegal actions" removed

"crashed" changed to "picketed"

"tactics and propaganda campaign" changed to "campaign"

I renamed the Controversy section to PETA protests because that more accurately describes what the controversy was. --Crunch (talk) 14:50, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Overall cleanup

I did some overall cleanup to the article mostly to make the section headings more logical. It still needs more work. --Crunch (talk) 14:51, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

And I have removed clear advertising material and unsources text. --BwB (talk) 13:28, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

PETA references

While it is legitimate to include a reference to PETA and its anti-fur campaign, it seems to take up an unwarranted amount of space in a short article, and should be trimmed to one or two sentences. the separate article on PETA can include individual protests, but this is not an article on PETA and they should be merely mentioned, not detailed.Catherinejarvis (talk) 20:31, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

religion?

The info box cites her religion as Hinduism (without sources), while the article declares her to be Jewish (with a couple sources mostly regarding her early life).

I find a few articles that mention her practice of yoga and other cultural activities related to Hinduism, but nothing that mentions her having declared herself to be a Hindu by religion.

Should this be clarified in the article? —Moxfyre (ǝɹʎℲxoɯ | contrib) 03:28, 2 July 2015 (UTC) —Moxfyre (ǝɹʎℲxoɯ | contrib) 03:28, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Parents' names?

I cleaned up the style in the "Personal life" section and moved some bits to the "Early life" section, along with their references.

I also added a brief mention of Ms Karan's parents and sister and her youth in Woodmere. However, I saw in web and other published data two spellings of her father's given (presumably, nick-) name: "Gaby" and Gabby". The instances of the former were much more numerous. Also, one or two publications mention her mother's given name as "Ricky", rather than Helen. They agree, though, on the nickname "Queenie". Rt3368 (talk) 00:08, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
