Criticism section removed, no RS

[edit]

This new section was sourced to a letter to the editor and a blog. Please read WP:Reliable sources, especially the WP:BLP part. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 21:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In Actuality - removed - no RS

[edit]

This comment, "In actuality, the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 all placed within the top twelve hottest years on record, with 2010 being the hottest year ever recorded." was changed to, "In actuality 2010 was the hottest year ever recorded."

However, both versions are unattributed to a reliable source and were removed. It's also not necessary to make a value judgement here and correct a view - There are just his positions and statements. ie, if he were to state that the world was flat, would we be compelled to state here that the greeks 'actually' discovered that the world was round back in 300BC? At a minimum the statement needs to be cited correctly. 174.49.84.214 (talk) 15:10, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WWU - Misquote removed

[edit]

There is no indication in the position statement issued by WWU that it was issued in response to Professor Easterbrook's position - many universities have issued such statements. Also, the statement that his views fall outside the mainstream is also unsupported as his views and positions are not explained sufficiently to correlate against those of others.

If someone cares about this, they'll write it up in a more neutral tone and with the correct context. I've removed the misquote and placed it here:

"Easterbrook's views fall sufficiently outside of mainstream climate science that the Department of Geology at Western Washington University has issued a position statement[1] directly at odds with his views."174.49.84.214 (talk) 12:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Global Cooling Section Title Change

[edit]

I changed the section titled Global cooling to Cyclical Nature of Climate Variability.

Easterbrook is not a proponent of "global cooling" he's a proponent that there is a natural variablity to the world's climate and that this variability is natural. He accepts that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas but thinks that the natural variability is stronger than CO2 forcings. As such, the section is not about global cooling but about the theory of natural climate variability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.49.84.214 (talk) 15:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BLP noticeboard

[edit]

Section = 109 BLP articles labelled "Climate Change Deniers" all at once. This article was placed in a "climate change deniers" category. After discussion on WP:BLPN and WP:CFD the category was deleted. Peter Gulutzan (talk) 16:32, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Awards

[edit]

Could it be possible to have a source about his "National award for ‘Distinguished Service to the Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology Division’, Geological Society of America" ? Thanks in advance. Marvoir (talk) 14:50, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I found the source : University of Washington. Marvoir (talk) 14:48, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
