Episodic character order
[edit]Are these listed in order of appearance from ep 1 on? It looked disorganized at first. Would alphabetical or by species be possible alternatives? Order by episode could be discerned by their mention in the episode list so I think another order either alphabet or animal type would be more useful. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 22:20, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- I know you posted this question months ago, and I'm not sure my answer will help too much, but per WP:TVCAST we should organize by original broadcast credits, with new members being added to the cast as the series progresses. We should also cut one-off characters, since we are only interested in main and recurring. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:15, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Xander and Max and season 3
[edit]Noticed these commented out as proposed main characters in some kind of third season. Is there any evidence of a third season in planning at all? I don't see a mention of it. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 22:27, 16 February 2016 (UTC) Season 3 has been confirmed, and Xander and Max have been disconfirmed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Étienne Murase (talk • contribs) 01:38, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
IMDB as ref
[edit]I notice for season 2 the IMDB pages for episodes are being listed as references. Is that appropriate? We should find stronger evidence. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 21:49, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- I know that you asked this question months ago, but since nobody answered, I will. Firstly, IMDb is not considered a reliable source by the general Wikipedia community,(WP:TVFAQ, WP:RS/IMDB, WP:RS) because it's user-contributed and anyone can add to it. It's not really necessary to add references for things that could be confirmed by watching the episode. For instance, we could watch an episode to figure out who played Doki. We could watch an episode to figure out what the plot is. Neither of these things really needs to be referenced. Sometimes it's good to have extra references, especially when there are pernicious editors about, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:14, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Well, to get all that information, watch the closing credits. Gabi Salinas (talk) 00:31, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
Ray MC and Star

Requested move 26 July 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved. I get 12,600 ghits for the new name and the first page all seem relevant (your results may vary), so it's a common enough name. Andrewa (talk) 04:33, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Doki (TV series) → Doki Adventures – as you can see from this title card which is used on zap2it, this is also a title the series goes by. This is actually how it is currently displaying on the TV guide on TVO Kids. Per WP:NATDAB the 'Adventures' would allow us to drop the parenthesized TV series notation for a more aesthetic title. Ranze (talk) 00:53, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Doki Adventures on TV Zap2it
[edit]I Don't understand why you change the page from Doki it's not fair the TV zap2it it say Doki Adventures but is only season 2 but it's says Doki on Season 1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byronmolina87 (talk • contribs) 04:44, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
August 2016 cleanup edits
[edit]"Like so-and-so"
[edit]In this edit I removed all the totally unnecessary phrasing that points out all the other characters a voice actor performs, each time we invoke that actor's name:
- "Like Carlos, Zeke is voiced by Ian MacPherson. Like Zeke, Carlos is voiced by Ian MacPherson. Like Lena, Laura, Hayley and Claire, Justine is voiced by Delia Deacon. Like Lena, Laura and Justine, Claire is voiced by Delia Deacon. Like Laura, Justine, Claire, and Hayley, Lena is voiced by Delia Deacon.
Totally unnecessary and ridiculous. It just bloats the character section. If grouping all the characters a voice actor performs is important to you, then you should consider organizing the list by cast, not by character. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:46, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
"Along with"
[edit]In this edit I removed "along with" content for the exact reasons indicated above:
- Rowan Appears in the episodes "The Rare Bird" (along with Hayley)
- Hayley Appears in the episode "The Rare Bird." (along with Rowan)
Same deal. It's padding that just bloats the article. If someone wrote a complete episode description, we would know that Rowan and Hayley appear in that episode. We don't need to log that each character appeared with the other in their character descriptions. Probably shouldn't mention what episode they're in at all, and if we're getting really technical, we should only be focusing on Main and Recurring characters per WP:TVCAST, so one-time characters like Rowan and Hayley probably don't belong in the article at all. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:46, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Copyright, inline links to external sites, and misuse of italics
[edit]In this edit, I removed links to YouTube, because many of them look like they're violating copyrights. We don't link to sites that could be violating copyrights. If these were official, verified network YouTube channels, that'd be a different story, but they're not. Also, we do not use inline links to external sites. See WP:ELPOINTS. Lastly in this edit I converted all the italics to quotation marks, because we use quotation marks for smaller works like an episode, and italics for major works like the entire television series. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:46, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
In this edit I brought the Characters section a little closer to WP:TVCAST. We didn't need L3 headings for the Main cast. Again, like the edits above, it just bloats up the page and it didn't match the rest of the characters section, which was done in bullets. Converted Main to bullets. Converted "Episodic characters" to "Recurring characters", because WP:TVCAST indicates that we want Main and Recurring. I would imagine that characters that could not be described as "Recurring" need to be cut. In this edit I cut the suggestion to split the character list into a new article. There was no discussion about it on the talk page, and frankly, it's wishful thinking from my perspective. If we got rid of all the one-time characters, the list would be a lot shorter and we wouldn't need to split it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:46, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Misuse of flags and other icons
[edit]In this edit I removed all the flags and other icons, which were being grossly misused. Rather than having an orderly table with easy-to-read information, we had a mass of random flags and other icons, like world maps, plane icons, the moon, etc interrupting our ability to read the text. See MOS:FLAG for appropriate usage of flags. There was just no point to this. No other quality television article is swimming in flags and icons like this. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:23, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
YouTube and Character removed
[edit]Why you removed youtube and character link i edited just few days a go and now it was gone please bring it back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byronmolina87 (talk • contribs) 14:04, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Byronmolina87:, the changes were explained in this edit summary as well as in my comments above under Copyright, inline links to external sites, and misuse of italics.
- We do not use "inline" links to external sites like [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhG-7UcSmHY this] in articles. They're okay on talk pages, but not in articles. If a site is being used as a reference, we have special formatting for that. However:
- We don't direct users to YouTube videos or other sources that could be violating copyrights. I don't know whether or not the people who uploaded those videos have a legal right to do so, but unless we know for sure, we don't want to risk driving traffic to a potential copyright violation. Only if a site is a verified network like this Treehouse Direct channel's video, could we use it. Presumably Treehouse Direct has a legal right to post that video.
- Hope that helps. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:27, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Removal of Recurring Characters column
[edit]In these edits I removed the "Recurring Characters" column from the episode tables. I don't understand the point of this, and it looks like a run-of-the-mill trivia column that pops up a lot in kids' TV articles. Characters that are important to the episode would normally be included in an episode summary. Making special note of them seems like an afterthought, i.e. as a lazy way to avoid writing a plot summary. It also needlessly takes up space that we can't afford to lose, and the majority of the entries were N/As. Cut. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:18, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Removal of future content
[edit]In this edit I removed all future content from the article. Even thought it was being suppressed from displaying on the page, it has no business being in the article. It's completely unsourced and there's no clear reason how anyone could know episode titles, episode air dates, and what characters are going to appear almost four months in advance. The content was added in this edit by Byronmolina87. Many of the titles don't make any sense in English. "Taking to Place", "The Search of an Eagle", "Game for All", "Travel to Alaska and Visitor at Team Doki's Club House". While it is possible that the episodes exist and the titles were good-faith attempts to translate Portuguese titles or something, there would presumably be some record of these episodes somewhere. This sort of thing looks an awful lot like an attempt to add hoax content or "headcanon" content to the article. Provide references, please. And sorry, references like this from IMDb are not suitable. IMDb is not considered a reliable source because it is user-contributed just like Wikia, Wikipedia, TVTropes, etc is. See WP:RS/IMDB, WP:RS and WP:TVFAQ. It would not surprise me in the slightest if those entries at IMDb were completely fabricated. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:55, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Mundi Stays
[edit]I thought Mundi is no longer on doki character and guess what Mundi isnt going and season 3 is not going on the air season 2 is still on air on Discovery Kids And I don't think is going to be aired Goodbye Mundi in 2016. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byronmolina87 (talk • contribs) 04:23, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

What were the original broadcast networks?
[edit]If this is a Brazilian/American/Canadian series, it makes sense that we would have one network from each region in the |network=
parameter, but I see five networks. This parameter is only for original broadcast networks, i.e. ones that broadcast episodes for the first time in those regions, not reruns. This creates a problem, because this guy added Nick Jr. to the network parameter and it's just going to attract more additions. Can someone please remove any networks that have only aired reruns? Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:54, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Brazilian/American/Canadian
[edit]Brazilian/American/Canadian? I think this is only Canadian. This series may be based on the mascot from Discovery Kids, the series wasn't created by Brazilians or (Latin) Americans. This would make Poppets Town Japanese, which it's not. Can someone give a source please? Palettepony895 (talk) 12:43, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- I looked into this at some point but could not find full episodes online to verify the closing credits. It would not surprise me if the data was wrong. Many questionable changes have been made at this article and kids' TV articles in general are very prone to assumption and personal wish fulfillment. If you happen to find full episodes online, maybe spot checking a few EPs from each season would determine the production companies involved. I see that there are two companies listed and both appear to be Canadian. If there is only one nation of origin, then much of the content in the
|network=
parameter of the Infobox should be removed, as we wouldn't necessarily care when a Canadian series ran in Latin America unless it aired there first as the target market. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:45, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Based on this reference you provided, it is suggestive that Discovery Kids Latin America ordered the series, so there might be a legitimate argument that the series is not only Canadian, but who owns Discovery Kids Latin America? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:14, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure whoever owns Discovery Kids, but judging by the source, it does seem like Discovery Kids asked Portfolio, a Canadian company, to make it. I don't think Discovery Kids has any involvement other than this, but they are at the end of the credits (where the credit logos show). However, before that point, the credits do say "produced by Portfolio for Discovery Kids" with no mention of Discovery Kids producing it as well. (There is also a copyright for Discovery Communications LLC., but not sure if this has anything to do with this). This is why I believe it's only Canadian. Palettepony895 (talk) 19:54, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Discovery Kids Latin America is owned per above sources by the Discovery Communication, Inc. division Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic. Discovery Kids has involvement in hiring a third party, JBMW Media, to develop it then hired Portfolio for the series. Discovery Communication, Inc. owns it as it is a work for hire situation ("produced by Portfolio for Discovery Kids") about the Discovery Kids Latin America mascot (already owned by Discover). Per the Portfolio website the show is available in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Spshu (talk) 00:54, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

- Byron, it's unclear what you are trying to say. Aside from you liking the image more, why should we only use the one you like, and not the one submitted by Palettepony895? You've made an unreasonable demand that nobody change the image. Why? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:42, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
