Dobunni coins
[edit]Here are two Dobunni coins. Feel free to introduce them into the article. Cheers PHG (talk) 21:34, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Dobunii
[edit]It is reasonably conjectured that this Hwiccan kingdom was the pre-Roman tribal area of the Celtic Dobunii. In 628 the Saxon Hwiccans were conquered by the Anglian, King Penda of Mercia, although the kingdom continued to be administered as a separate unit. Archaeological evidence, or rather lack of it, suggests sparse Saxon settlement and it is likely that the kingdom had a predominantly Celtic population. [1]
The quote above refers to the Dobunii. Is that a misprint or an alternative spelling? South Birmingham OK (talk) 18:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I removed the pic, the pic's name is misleading, its not a coin of the Dobunni. Its description says it from the Catuvellauni. If anyones got a pic of an actual Dobunnic coin they can upload to wikicommons it would be nice to have a coin pic with the article Bryndlefly (talk) 06:31, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
Endonym?
[edit]Dobunni is of course the Roman name for this tribe. Is there any evidence of what they may have called themselves in their own Brythonic language? P M C 20:03, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
