Not

[edit]

I am not sure that Einstein threw any light on Fermat's Last Theorem. Evidence seems to come from a relative. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.123.215.180 (talk) 10:03, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Number theory, measure theory and special relativity

[edit]

Vandiyer's obituary and list of Mirimanoff' publications say that most of his work was on number theory (in particular Fermat's last theorem), with some on measure theory and special relativity. So maybe someone with expertise in these subjects could summarise what he did. 46.33.143.125 (talk) 12:21, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Set theory

[edit]

The brilliant paper on set theory was:

Dimitry Mirimanoff. Les antinomies de Russell et de Burali-Forti, et le problème fondemental de la théorie des ensembles. Enseignement Mathématique, 19:37–52, 1917.

I have made an English translation, at http://paultaylor.eu/trans/

The journal L’Enseignement Mathématique has an open-access archive at http://www.e-periodica.ch/digbib/volumes?UID=ens-001
