Standardization of the lists of municipalities
[edit]There is a discussion about an eventual standardization of all the lists of municipalities. Please join here and express your opinions.--Húsönd 19:50, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Proposed move
[edit]Since Shabiyah are in truth large districts and are the primary administrative subdivision in Libya, I feel that it would be better to call this article Districts of Libya. There are only 22 shabiyah for an area of 1,759,541 km² (679,359 sq mi). The municipality level for Libya is the "Basic People's Congress" (مؤتمر شعبي أساسي). --Bejnar (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Units
[edit]The areas should be in km2 not in sq mi.Nico (talk) 11:59, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- I don't see where there is anything in sq mi. --Lasunncty (talk) 21:49, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Name of the far northwest district
[edit]On 19 April 2014, IP editor 41.254.2.106 changed the listing in the current list of 22 districts of Libya for the far northwestern district from "Nuqat al Khams ( النقاط الخمس)" to "Western Areas ( المنطقة الغربية)" without any citation. No concurrent change was made to the Nuqat al Khams article. A quick electronic search in English and a quick search in Arabic found no support for this change. I have reverted the text to the name "Nuqat al Khams" for this district. --Bejnar (talk) 23:44, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Area given for Al Wahat for 2007 onwards wrong?
[edit]The area given for Al Wahat in the table of districts since 2007 is 105,523. This is smaller than the area given in the table for 2001-07 of 108,670. Looking at the maps, and given and the fact that Ajdabiya (91,620 sq km) merged into it, as well as it gaining a large section from Kufra in 2007 means it should be about 2.5 to 3 times the figure given. Does anyone have any sources that could clarify this? Was it perhaps a typing error and should be 308,670? Any help would be appreciated. MWchat (talk) 16:06, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- On bsc.ly I found a 2012 census document that lists populations for Al Wahat and Ajdabiya separately (for 23 total districts rather than 22), so maybe they have split again. But I can't seem to find a source that lists area figures. --Lasunncty (talk) 07:44, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

- The GAI ref is only partially archived (see here). I'll leave it for now, but it would be good to find another source for the 2006 census data. --Lasunncty (talk) 23:39, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
valid edits?
[edit]I'm wondering if the last three edits by user 41.254.65.128 are valid or not. They are not perfect, but they don't seem to be obvious vandalism. The terms that were inserted do appear in the ar wiki articles for those districts, but I don't know enough about the subject to say whether they are true names for them or maybe just wishful thinking. --Lasunncty (talk) 07:29, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
