Chapter title
[edit]271828182 and I have been to-and-froing over the section title for chapter IV. English-language translation gives "Ideas and the Synthesis of Difference." Original French is "Synthèse idéelle de la différence." 271828182 points out that there is no "and" in the original, and so offers "Ideational Synthesis of Difference" as a more accurate translation than that which appears in the published work. This may be right, I feel, but Wikipedia policy as I understand it is verifiable rather than 'true'. If there is a reliable source pointing up this discrepancy, then it would justify the difference between the article and the book--we could add in a footnote explaining precisely this point. - James Williams, in his book on DR, uses "the ideal synthesis of difference" (pp. 139ff.). That was my original choice, before switching to the ugly "ideational" to be more precise. 271828182 (talk) 18:28, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
"Reception"?
[edit]It would be nice to have a section of the article that describes the reception / influence of this particular book. Deleuze himself writes that it is his first attempt to "practice" philosophy, and he's much better known for his later collaborations. However, the book itself is well known and cited. Can this "legacy" be summarized? Arided (talk) 20:55, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
