[edit]Hipot covers substantially the same material under a different title. The two articles could usefully be merged. --Wtshymanski (talk) 23:57, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- I have removed the mergeto tag from Hipot because there was no corresponding mergefrom tag at this article. This is without prejudice to any editor proposing a new merger under the terms of WP:MERGE. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:57, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
I see this is another that has fallen prey to the hungry maw of Wtshymanski's merge obsession. 8-( Nor that he is yet following WP policy on how to record such merges.
Now he's taking what remains of Hipot (no he isn't, he just blanked it all) and adding photos of a Megger tester. The problem with that is that they're not the same thing (as was noted years ago, at talk:Hipot). The problem with this is that "Hipot" has a broader meaning of components designed, made and suitable for HT use - out of the normal operating bounds of off-the-shelf componentry. A Megger in contrast is a commonplace instrument for testing mains voltage items (much below the Hipot range) by applying an unusual over-voltage to them for the short duration of the test. This is not the same thing at all, even though both use the words "high voltage" and "test". Andy Dingley (talk) 16:50, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- None of that is showing at Hipot, do you have time to put these points into that article? I couldn't find a picture of a hipot test set on Commons, and have uploaded a bad one but it needs rotating. (Did anyone ever make a picture of a current edition GS 38 compatible test light?)--Wtshymanski (talk) 17:13, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

I agree that these pages should be merged. Hipot and Dielectric withstand test is the same. The merged page should have the name "Dielectric withstand test (Hipot)" --Journeyman69 (talk) 18:24, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with the merge proposal. I don't agree with the bracketed disambiguation in the title – that's unnecessary so fails WP:PARENDIS. @Wtshymanski: are you going to carry this out? You've been asking for it for long enough. SpinningSpark 00:33, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Done. No referenced items that could be moved in from Hipot. --Wtshymanski (talk) 01:46, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
There is an upcoming major US network show called High Potential which may make the redirect inconvenient.
