Flappy Pigeon Hi - I was just looking at this new article and its sourcing. The only source, a Google Earth link, puts a pushpin into what appears to be the middle of an area of woodland - there doesn't appear to be a village there. I've just tried a bunch of different search variants, but I can't find anything that looks like a village called Asma on the island of Socotra in Yemen. If it's an occupied place, WP:GEOLAND would allow for an article to exist, but at the moment I'm unable to confirm whether this place exists or not. Hi again Flappy Pigeon - I see you moved the focus of the Google Earth ref to look at what appears to be a collection of buildings - but how do we verify that that is a village called Asma? How do we know it's not an abandoned farm or something near a forest called Asma? I don't want to be excessively pernickety, but are there any actual sources that verify the information in the article, without using WP:OR by interpreting a map? Hey Flappy Pigeon, don't worry about that - I'm a volunteer, I don't have to review pages if I don't want to. I'm just trying to make sure that we only retain pages that are based on verifiable information - I wondered if you knew more about this location. Deletion is an option, but I try to search for sources before nominating anything to AfD. Hi Flappy Pigeon, I've found a reference to an Asma as an alternative name of Di Asmo in an article about Socotran place names. The coordinates given in the article aren't an exact match for the Google Earth location, but it notes that the name is used for both the settlement and a nearby ridge. The satellite imagery shows a settlement of some sort close to the coordinates given in the paper, which I assume is the place we're talking about. I've cut the sentence about it being inaccessible by car - it's unsourced, and from my own OR (looking at the satellite picture) there does seem to be a road. In general, I'd advise against using Google Maps and/or Google Earth as sources for articles, especially if you can't find any information about them elsewhere - remember that a lot of their information comes from Google's users, so they are essentially a form of WP:UGC, and thus not reliable.
