Hang on

[edit]

This articles does not consist only of a dictionary definition - it is a character that appears in the name of Rinko Kikuchi - A dictionary will never tell you why but this article will. Þjóðólfr (talk) 00:12, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is absurd. According to this rationale we'd have an article for every single Chinese, Japanese and other non-latin alphabet character. This is an English wiki. Mister Flash (talk) 00:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll withdraw speedy if you can come up with some way of renaming it so that it uses latin alphabet character(s). Mister Flash (talk) 00:37, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page is terrible

[edit]

Thiotholf has a cute name, but his rationale and this page are just terrible.

At the same time, it should not be nuked from admin orbit: all of the generic translation notes and dictionary nonsense should go, but di was in fact an important figure in ancient Chinese ritual and worship. We do need more explanation of that. I'll prune the worst bits, but we need more to replace it with. — LlywelynII 13:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Still needs more, but worst pruned.
Moved to di (Chinese concept) since (a) we should avoid diacritics in the names if at all possible and (b) that particular use completely fails to dab the only important alternate meaning (帝 is also ). If this page were better, moving di to di (disambiguation) would probably be best. If MOSZH liked using Chinese characters more di (地) would be best, but it's not user-friendly enough for the general Wiki readership. — LlywelynII 19:44, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
