Work in progress

[edit]

At the moment I am attempting to compose a good article here (with references), so this is very much a work in progress. --Judithcomm (talk) 13:28, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The paragraphs about Cultural significance and Jahrus are not mine. Not sure what to do with these yet. --Judithcomm (talk) 15:25, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Replaced the Jahru paragraph with a new text. It is now a separate article. The author of the original text can always retrieve it from the history if he/she so desires. --Judithcomm (talk) 15:20, 8 September 2019 (UTC)--Judithcomm (talk) 10:39, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cultural significance is now also out. I think enough of the cultural and religious aspect is covered in the Uses paragraph. --Judithcomm (talk) 17:16, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm done for now, although there is still a lot of room for expansion and improvement. I hope at least some of the readers get as much 'hooked' by the ingenuity and beauty of the dhungedhara system as I am ;-) --Judithcomm (talk) 14:37, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Judithcomm: thank you for working on this. My assessment is that it is clearly better than C-class but it has some issues with unsupported claims and FANPOV . It could be the POV issues were already there (I haven't checked the history), since most casual editors from Nepal also generally add POVs which go unchallenged due to insufficient interest and expertise in this area among active wikipedia editors. If the language were more neutral at at places, and unsupported information were tagged as needing citation or removed if not particularly pertinent for inclusion, it would be clear pass of B-class and you could then get into peer-review for a potential good article run. My regards! And good luck! Usedtobecool TALK  05:48, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your feedback. Could you please explain to me what FANPOV and POV mean? --Judithcomm (talk) 10:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Judithcomm, Hi! Yeah, I tend to do this. Sorry about that. By POV, I was referring to the fact that reading the article from top to bottom gave me the impression that it was written by someone/s who think/s highly of the subject. The relevant policy to consult to verify whether that is indeed the case and if and how you can rectify that would be WP:NPOV. In the same context, FANPOV meant point of view of a fan, although now I realise that WP:FANPOV redirects to something different. MOS:PUFF might better cover what I actually wanted to say. On that page (not just the section), there are lists of words and phrases to avoid. Running the article against those lists will definitely make it more encyclopedic and take it one step closer to a GA. Regards! Usedtobecool TALK  13:05, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Importance

[edit]

Upped importance to Mid. I thought it appropriate at this time, even though I'm the principal author of the article, because safe drinking water continues to be a serious problem in Nepal, especially in the Kathmandu Valley. Dhunge dharas may very well be part of the solution. --Judithcomm (talk) 17:56, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I don't see the reason for deletion in the description of the files. What am I missing here? --Judithcomm (talk) 20:15, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is a discussion going on at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump/Copyright/Archive/2023/03#Copyright_1974_Italian_film. From what I understand the images should be deleted, but who will be doing that? --Judithcomm (talk) 14:15, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
