Detasseling Companies

[edit]

I think the recent addition of selected detasseling companies to be problematic for a couple of reasons. First of all, it is very selective. For every detasseling company listed there are dozens that are not. Because it is selective, it seems like it is endorsing some detasseling companies over others. Secondly, I'm not sure that it adds anything to the article. If it was a complete list, it would rival the rest of the article in size (in the current format) and would probably be spun off into a separate article. Finally, the very nice map is already out of date, and is likely to remain so as detasseling companies come and go with some regularity and growing areas are also somewhat fluid.

Don't get me wrong. I think this section is very well done. It is just incomplete, outdated and likely to remain so. But it could be just me. LloydSommerer (talk) 19:51, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just removed it per WP:NOTADVERT. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 08:36, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
