Advantages of Dermatoscopy - a priori science?
[edit]It is pretty poor to claim dermatoscopy is great and refer to studies comparing results from using a dermatoscope with NAKED EYE examination. I do not know ANY dermatologist who does not possess and use a basic magnifier! Why bother doing such a study when the answer is known a priori? More realistic to compare the diagnoses made by users of 10X illuminated dermatoscopes with diagnoses made by users of common 2.5x loupes. The difference will be less.Petlif (talk) 03:13, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
This page is clearly written by the company selling dermatoscopes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.208.253.93 (talk) 02:43, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Seems like the start of the section was, but the last sentence provides balance, IMO. In its defense, I imagine a polarized dermatoscope is a very simple instrument, inexpensive to manufacture, and buy so I can't see much reason not to use one. --Elvey (talk) 00:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
I wonder if the kind of studies and cost-benefit analyses used for mammography have been or are being applied to digital dermoscopy. --Elvey (talk) 00:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Subjective algorithms
[edit]Dermoscopic Algorithms Lack Reliability for Detecting Melanoma. April 2016 " For new dermoscopy users, several simplified diagnostic algorithms exist—such as the ABCD rule, the Menzies method, or the 3-point checklist. In this study, ... compare the diagnostic accuracy of these varied dermoscopic algorithms." could be mentioned here - or melanoma ?
