The site in which this entry for Della Ferrera is supposedly plagiarized from was also written by me, so therefore have plagiarized my own text from my research on the company. This I do not understand.also the mentioned site clearly has my nick as the contributor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sempire (talkcontribs) 23:30, 8 August 2010‎ (UTC)[reply]

Sempire, it appears that content you added when creating the article in 2010 was substantially copied from here (as was flagged by CorenSearchBot); that page in its turn appears to be an atrocious translation of this version of the nl:Della Ferrera page on nl.wp, created in 2005. Are you claiming that you wrote that Dutch page? If so, what name did you use? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:05, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

[edit]

The history section is copy-pasted from the history page of the company's official website (http://dellaferreramotorcycles.com/index.php/history/). If the company used the text from Wikipedia, it has to insert the rght attributions back to Wikipedia. For the time being, unless we compare dates with web archives to see who posted it first, we can only consider that the text on wikipedia is a copy of the official website. --Qwacker (talk) 14:04, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Qwacker, I've not had any success in establishing definitively who copied from whom in this case, as http://dellaferreramotorcycles.com/index.php/history has apparently not been recorded in the Internet Archive. However, I note that http://www.dellaferreramotorcycles.com had no content other than an image from September 2010 to October 2014; the first archived version with a link to history section is dated 22 November 2015. In any case, since the content of the page is entirely without reliable sources, I plan to remove almost all of it – unless there's any reason not to? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:35, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Justlettersandnumbers Good call to clear the page, but you're right, there aren't many sources out there to start from scratch. I still think we should keep this page since it is supposed to be a historical brand, and hope that more sources will be created over time... The page could also be deleted and reopened later. --Qwacker (talk) 19:16, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (your reason here) --Barry hutchinson (talk) 15:36, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, owning the rights of the company/brand does not allow to copy-paste text on Wikipedia (comparison website/wikipedia similarities here: [23]. You don't need to write a new history text on your website, but simply provide the adequate CC attributions to state that the text is from Wikipedia (as it is the rule when copying content from Wikipedia).
The brand you represent has a place on Wikipedia, don't worry about that. --Qwacker (talk) 16:41, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Barry hutchinson: If you wish to donate your copyrighted text to Wikipedia, you can do so by following the steps outlined at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Just be aware of two things:
  1. By donating the text, you are permanently and irrevocably releasing into the public domain. You won't be able to take it back.
  2. Your text may be edited by any other Wikipedia user, perhaps extensively over time. You won't have any right of ownership or editorial control over it.
I'd also recommend that you avoid any temptation to edit the article yourself, since you have a conflict of interest. Continue making comments and suggestions here on the article talk page, and other uninvolved editors will review them. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 17:56, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:47, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
