Dear fellow Wikipedians

I apologize to all, I keep getting it wrong: first I put an edit in the wrong day, and then i changed it to the correct day but hadn't realized the entry was already there - sorry!Eugene-elgato (talk) 19:00, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It happens. Just remember to use the Preview button, in the latter case. — Wyliepedia 19:09, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, will do - also just so happens there is some dubiousness substantively about the claim; does strike me as odd that a Briton lived to be 115. But other editors will flesh it out. At the moment there is even the BBC claiming itEugene-elgato (talk) 19:15, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused - she is now listed under both the 19 and 21 July ! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 19:18, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. 19th. — Wyliepedia 19:24, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

JJ Cale

[edit]

What is going on there? Has JJ Cale died or not? Every five minutes the entry appears and then disappears. Maybe an admin should make a clear statement. Royalrec (talk) 12:51, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

“J.J. Cale dead 2013” : Singer killed by internet death hoax. WWGB (talk) 12:56, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
are you sure ? ..--Stemoc (talk) 13:03, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What is the weird part is all of the rumors were earlier in the week. However, this story is last night and the really hinky part is that the domain www.jjcale.com is owned and registered by his management company. (I ran the who is off network solutions server). So I am wondering if he did die after the rumor. Dont know either way yet.Sunnydoo (talk) 13:15, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah the facebook link is from his official manager's site, other sites....--Stemoc (talk) 13:21, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
CNN is now reporting. So that makes it official.Sunnydoo (talk) 13:33, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Steven H Smith

[edit]

Very very unusuall name, I know, there can only be one of these people on the planet, right??? IMDB says the actor died, they are NOT a reliable source for anything, including if the world is round. We have a link to a memorial or something. Volla! Now the afor mentione red link appears here. If I am wrong, please correct me and I'll move on, thank you, --Malerooster (talk) 01:45, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Steven H. Smith, 55, American film (Blade Runner, Superbad) and television (Bones, Doogie Howser, M.D.) camera operator. See link here [1]
Here is IMDB link [2]. --Malerooster (talk) 01:48, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
FFS, you keep conflicting me. Common name, yes, but it's highly unlikely two Steve Smiths would die the same day. Rusted AutoParts 01:49, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is, but not impossible. Do we have any other citation or RS? That would certainly help. --Malerooster (talk) 01:52, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What is FFS, I love, err, what are letters used for expressions called? --Malerooster (talk) 01:53, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I hope it isn't "For F&cks Sake" :) --Malerooster (talk) 01:54, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you can not link to your user page or talk page from your signature, but you probably already know that, not nice. --Malerooster (talk) 01:55, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And it does stand for fuck sakes. You edit conflicted me three times. Then another two when I was trying to answer you. Rusted AutoParts 01:58, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to change the signature, I was just saying, there are already to many rules around here, cheers, also pretty good guess on my part :) Sorry about all the E/C --Malerooster (talk) 02:00, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your sig is still f ed up :),. Hope I didn't e/c you again :) --Malerooster (talk) 02:02, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed your sig, hope you don't mind. --Malerooster (talk) 02:04, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need for snarkiness on anyone's part. A little cool investigation is all that needed. After looking at IMDB, there are a number of inconsistencies. First it says he died July 19th in Los Angeles. Pulling up Legacy.com which registers all of the published obits in the US, there is a Steven H. Smith that died on the 19th. However, that Steven H. Smith died in Hollywood, Florida, not California. His legacy.com obit published from the Sun Sentinel also says he was employed by the Broward County School System for 38 years, which also makes it unlikely (not impossible, just unlikely) that he could do both. Until a better resource is found that clearly spells it out, we probably should hold off. Funeral Home reference [3] Sunnydoo (talk) 11:15, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found this a bit weird...--Stemoc (talk) 01:29, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Newton Tattrie

[edit]

Newton Tattrie was Canadian, not American. I've long held suspicions about the quality of the websites considered reliable by WP:PW. As it is, the available sources state that he was a longtime resident of the United States in his later years, but doesn't specify whether as an expatriate or as a naturalized citizen. Therefore, I'm not quite sure how that should be handled. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 21:57, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed his entry to Canadian. It should be this way with most entries here, unless a source, any source, states that they became an actual citizen of the country. Tattrie's article makes no mention of such an act, except him "residing" and dying in Virginia. The entry here would even be incorrect to list as "Canadian-born American", as he wrestled across the globe. — Wyliepedia 23:18, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
