Age at death has been noted as 33, however the date of birth on his page is stated as 1973. Can anybody please clarify this? Lemmiwinks900 (talkcontribs) 00:36, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His Wikipedia article gives his birth as 1973. At the same time, however, the article is placed into the category called "1980 births". So, there is a discrepancy that needs to be resolved. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 00:52, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Death has been removed. Why? A Google search for the man indicates death after a match resulting in knockout on Saturday 1st February. Info also deleted from article. Very confusing. Lemmiwinks900 (talk) 05:20, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Articles say he's brain dead, not deceased. Until we get a reliable source that he is deceased, we'll keep him off this list. EvergreenFir (talk) 05:23, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
now he is 23 years old..lol..--Stemoc (talk) 04:15, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Stemoc: He was taken of the ventilator last week. Not sure whey that's funny. EvergreenFir (talk) 04:29, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
its not, his age is, 1973 means he is 40, then someone mentions his age at death is 33 which means he was born in 1980 and now its claimed he is born in 1990, Benjamin Button?..we can't even figure his age and we are wondering why he hasn't been listed on Deaths in 2014....--Stemoc (talk) 04:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've not been following his page, but it says he was born in 1990 and died at age 23. Confirmed on this page. Deaths in 2014 says the same. EvergreenFir (talk) 04:45, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An actual valid citation should be listed for Justin Carmical's death, because there is no obituary and no credible legitimate source that can prove his death so far beyond a facebook post his wife made, which isn't actual proof of anything. 70.59.41.251 (talk) 21:16, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely correct. However... Firstly, if you search for his name here, you get redded to Channel Awesome, as with his online persona "JewWario", which means he's not really notable enough to list here. Secondly, if you Google his name, you get more hits about his suspected suicide than any notable work he has done, and most of those hits cite his wife's FB posting of his death. Note: most of those sources are not major news sources. Finally, in the off chance he gets listed here, his name will be removed after the grace period, unless more people contribute to his article, which hasn't happened as of 5 February 2014. — Wyliepedia 07:28, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His biography says he died on February 7, but his death is listed as being on the 9th. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.72.87.32 (talkcontribs) 22:31, February 10, 2014‎ (UTC)

Shirley Temple vs. Shirley Temple Black

[edit]

"Shirley Temple" was known as "Shirley Temple Black" for the last 60+ years of her life, including her time as an ambassador. I think she ought to be listed here as Black, not as Temple. How do other people feel? --Alexbook (talk) 15:35, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

She is more commonly known as "Shirley Temple" and news outlets are reporting her passing using this name. To me, it makes more sense to keep it as just "Temple". --Connelly90 15:56, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Article name. Furthermore, this is not the place for such discussion, her talk page is, which has already been done. — Wyliepedia 16:17, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't thinking. Of course it should be the same as the article name. Sorry about that. --Alexbook (talk) 20:01, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Georgy Martyniuk (Feb 13)...

[edit]

Georgi Martynyuk... or Georgiy Martynyuk? — Wyliepedia 16:31, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes have him as Georgiy Martynyuk. But it seems that there are a few other sources which use the other spelling. Probably just caused by differences in romanising Russian. --Connelly90 16:44, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Shirley Temple Black who was reported in the news media as having died on February 12 2014 not listed in this Wikipedia Deaths in 2014? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.201.210.86 (talk) 03:55, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

While I accept the removal of the relationship between John Henson and his father Jim, I disapprove of the changing back to John Henson being most famous for the Muppet character Sweetums. That implies (incorrectly) that he was famous for that character alone as opposed to being a puppeteer with the Muppets. David French (talk) 09:47, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Obviously his association with the Muppets is what he is known for and his portrayal of Sweetums. Simple fix just adding inside the parenthesis. Another article for citation if needed from a major US news media [2].Sunnydoo (talk) 10:30, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just one thought to add. If the vast majority of sources on the internet repeatedly refer to John Henson as operating the Sweetums character, and continually fail to mention him being involved with other character(s) (as I have found when researching it myself recently), it's difficult to support by reference, for the purposes of this Encyclopedia. Furthermore, it is not a slight against John Henson, as you seem to think. Henson will not be the last obituaried famous person to be labelled with his "most famous for" attribute. American actress Mary Grace Canfield died on February 15th. 70.32.219.33 (talk) 01:58, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see someone has added her name, but under the 16th. From the reference: "Her daughter, Phoebe Alexiades, says Canfield died of lung cancer on Saturday at a hospice in the California coastal town of Santa Barbara." Saturday was the 15th. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.32.219.33 (talk) 02:09, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Chabal

[edit]

Over at Deaths in January 2014, the death of Patrick Chabal was added [3]. So far, it has not been possible to determine his place of birth or nationality. In the literature, he first pops up studying for a BA at Harvard, but that does not necessarily imply he was American. Quite a mystery man! WWGB (talk) 01:03, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looking him up on Google, alot of articles point towards possible British ties, be it immigrating there or something, but doesn't go into detail about it, so they aren't reliable. Rusted AutoParts 01:07, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Earthling won't do, will it? InedibleHulk (talk) 02:06, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Was looking thru some of his books on Amazon. One of them, Africa Works: Disorder as Political Instrument, states that he lived and worked in Cameroon for a number of years, while also mentioning a number of other African countries that he did research in. Since most of the work he did encompassed the political work of Africa and because of the reference to Cameroon, I would list him as African until proven otherwise (or quite possibly African-British). There is probably a reason why biographical info is not available for him given the context and involvement in the level of the political systems in Africa during a turbulent time (ie government service if you catch my drift). Merge with category called "2014 deaths"

[edit]

I really think that the category called "2014 deaths" should be merged with this one. The article on Alice Herz-Sommer - which, incidentally, did get a lot of news coverage in the United Kingdom - was there but not here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.177.211.33 (talk) 13:36, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
