images in the article

[edit]

Regarding the deletion of an out-of-date image. debivort, as you noted the artwork in the image has been gone from the museum for 2+ years. The fact that the page isn't image-rich doesn't seem a good reason to keep an inaccurate image up. How about posting a more current image of one of the 70 artworks that are there currently? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkois (talkcontribs) 21:58, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And in the interest of full disclosure, I should point out I am the museum director. Open to other suggestions for image ideas, but it is not conducive to accuracy or expectations of visitors who visit the physical site to have old artworks represent the institution publiclyDkois (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:01, 6 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Hello - I still don't think you have given a reason not to have the image. Most people who visit the article will not visit the museum, and it will be much more useful to them to see multiple images that convey the diversity of sculptures at the museum, rather than just a single image. To the typical article reader, it will be essentially inconsequential that the sculpture is no longer there. That said, I can see why you would feel as you do given your position in the institution. I think you just need to think more broadly about the image's utility in the encyclopedia. de Bivort 01:07, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you both appreciate the changes I've made. dm (talk) 15:51, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Was there a reason you removed the only photo of actual sculptures? The rest of the changes seem fine, but don't address whether the article should include images of sculptures formerly there. de Bivort 17:27, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, as requested, I added a more recent photo of sculpture in the garden. I also added CommonsCat since there were several other photos related to the museum in there. You might want to move your photo to Commons... dm (talk) 22:45, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
