Youngest Ever to Get an Interception

[edit]

That's what the article says. I have no idea if that is true or not, so I added the "needs citation" thing. Anyone know how to verify that?

Contradiction

[edit]

Another user improperly noted in the article the contradiction here. The statement that is contradictory is:

"Although Owens gained 112 receiving yards, Hall made Owens a virtual non-factor on many of the Eagles' failed crucial third down conversions" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ultimadesigns (talkcontribs)

112 receiving yards is a lot to consider Owens a "non-factor." This should be elaborated upon and clarified.

I have removed the text - thank you for pointing it out. Please keep in mind that, when possible, it is preferable to fix a problem than to tag it. BigDT 22:18, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Inching Closer to the Number One Spot"

[edit]

Removed this. Not only is it POV, it is contradictory to what coaches and players say. He is NOT close to being the best corner in the league right now, and has gotten burned for big preformances this year more than a few times.

Find a scouting report that puts him in the elite status. He's not consistent enough. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by IceJew (talkcontribs) 04:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

The new "Prime Time"

[edit]

No way is he comparable to Deion Sanders. No corner could ever be. He's gotten burned several times. I also agree with the other guy on how Owens was a factor with 112 RECEIVING YARDS. If anything this article should elaborate more on how immature he is. I swear some people play the madden video game they see that the game has him as a "shutdown corner" and they come here thinking it's canon information. Ridiculous.

he's easily a pro bowl caliber corner. he gets burned cos hes always trying to jump routes and get interceptions

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot (talk) 18:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Raiders trade

[edit]

It is not official yet. To the anonymous IPs, please stop changing his team until the deal is finalized and properly sourced. Thanks! Redrocket (talk) 01:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

40 Time

[edit]

The article reads "Owns the Virginia Tech conditioning record for the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.15 seconds." Does anybody have a source on that? I don't believe it's possible unless he were shot out of a cannon. Dayewalker (talk) 02:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

STOP!

[edit]

Please stop putting his # as 23 because it can't be since it's already taken.--Iamawesome800 (talk) 02:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hall has gotten No. 23. Doughty is on IR (and has already lost one number this year, to Shaun Alexander). Since he's not active, Hall can take it and has done so.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:53, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MeAngelo

[edit]

This section was removed, apparently because only two sources were cited. I have restored it and added add'l sources(and can add more if nec'y).Jimintheatl (talk) 14:31, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It keeps getting deleted, not because of the amount of sources, but because of the sources themselves. Your reference for him being "selfish" does not mention him being selfish at all. The next part of the addition, MeAngelo, has five references. Of the five, one is a blog, and the other four only has MeAngelo written in comments by readers themselves. Stop adding it. Jwalte04 (talk) 17:14, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The sources say what the edit says.Jimintheatl (talk) 18:06, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Message board loons are not reliable sources. For adding the "MeAngelo" thing to even be a consideration, you would need to find an actual news article discussing it. If it isn't significant enough for the news media to cover it, it doesn't belong here. Everyone knows that some message board types refer to him as "MeAngelo", but message board types refer to a lot of players by a lot of rude names. Wikipedia's job is not to be an outlet for their namecalling. If the media doesn't think it important enough to report the name, then neither do we. --B (talk) 18:13, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how closely you read the refs. Can I suggest that loyalty to an alma mater (and its athletes), while perhaps admirable, may cloud judgment?Jimintheatl (talk) 21:15, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I clicked on each reference and searched for "meangelo". [1] had it repeatedly, but only in user comments. [2] had it only in user comments. [3] is a message board and not an appropriate source of anything. [4] is a blog. [5] has it only in user comments. What else would you like for me to read? And no, there's no loyalty to him. He is one of the least popular players among Tech fans. But we don't sweep BLP aside for unpopular people. --B (talk) 22:54, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re-added without the user comments. Refs are sports columnists from Cleveland, Atlanta and Florida and one internet columnist.Jimintheatl (talk) 20:16, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This section should be removed. WP:NPOV states that articles should be impartial and this is clearly a defamatory statement as well as the reference, which also presents the same bias. - Fastily (talk) 05:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The issue was BLP, I love how it has been balanced, wikicookie for whoever did that!--Ipatrol (talk) 20:50, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that including this has consensus currently. I won't argue against that, but do think it's receiving undue weight by being the first thing mentioned about his professional career. --OnoremDil 18:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agree on that, I've moved it to the personal section. Dayewalker (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deep Creek did NOT win the state championship Hall's Senior Year. Deep Creek did play in that game and lost 28 - 26 to Centreville High School. See the record book on VHSL.org 71.114.64.27 (talk) 19:30, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you follow the discussion, consensus was clear, and the discussion and editing ended. You or another user removed the ref that clearly referred to "selfish style of play." If necessary, I will find and restore it again.--NotHoratio (talk)NotHoratio Compromise: will leave it as "style of play." NotHoratio (talk)NotHoratio

The discussion was over 10 years ago. Consensus can change, especially as the standards improve over time for a high-quality article. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 16:50, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Section

[edit]

Looking at the Personal section more closely, the following sentence gives undue weight to this topic:

"Hall was not cited after his pit bulls attacked a Lawrenceville, Georgia man while the man was walking his dogs. The attack happened after Hall left the dogs with his brother, Tyrone Hall, a former Chicago Bears back-up fullback. The victim and his dog were treated for injuries and released."

While accurate and verifiable, including information about the subject not being cited for an incident involving his dogs that he was not present at does not meet the WP:WEIGHT guideline for an article about DeAngelo Hall. Looking to get other's thoughts prior to rescinding this sentence. -- Thanks, Willowsan (talk) 18:44, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would axe it. Quadzilla99 (talk) 21:59, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed - if Hall was charged, that's another thing. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:07, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pro Bowl MVP

[edit]

Hello! Hope you're well! Can somebody add in the top right box on the page that he was the pro bowl MVP, under the career accomplishments summary? I don't know how to add it in that box. Thank you!!2601:580:8202:3040:223:12FF:FE58:654B (talk) 02:41, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done It might have been removed in the past for not being a "real" enough award (if so, then I disagree). In any case, I added it back. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 16:35, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
