Merge

[edit]

Even though this was one of the more notable 24 episodes, there were very few episodes that were independently notable. It might be best to merge the content into 24 (season 5). Steven Zhang DR goes to Wikimania! 07:14, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, but nonetheless, it's part of an individual effort over at WikiProject Television to make articles for award-winning episodes (or "historical episode) for television series. (Check the templates, and you'll see that this one received two separate wins for directing) and to increase good article nominees for episodes.Penny Lane's America (talk) 07:26, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I had a look at WT:TV and I saw mention of creating season articles, but not episode ones. Could you point them out? Steven Zhang DR goes to Wikimania! 09:08, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's on the talkpage, not the main article. For reference, look at the sections titled "Historic Drama Episodes" and "Reformatting Emmy Awards writing and directing templates". Penny Lane's America (talk) 21:20, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But there needs to be consistency here. Having a small handful of articles on episodes will do one of two things, either create a lot of redlinks (as few episodes would be notable enough to have an article) or lead to the creation of an article for every episode, leading to excess cruft. I think encompassing the information into the season articles would be the better route to take here. Steven Zhang DR goes to Wikimania! 22:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For this TV series there may never be an interest in developing articles for every episode. However, specific episodes that have encyclopedic content should be created. In this case, there are a few selected episodes that have won or been nominated for the most prestigious episode awards that there are. WP needs articles for them to fill in redlinks for award articles. Take for example this episode. An article is needed for it at Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, 58th Primetime Emmy Awards, Directors Guild of America Awards 2006, Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Drama Series, Template:DirectorsGuildofAmericaOutstandingDirectingDramaSeries 1990–2009, and Template:EmmyAward DirectingDrama 2001–2025. Episodes that are in demand to fill redlinks in locations like this should be created. By mere explanation of their accolades the articles have encyclopedic merit. Much of the information can be repeated in places such as 24 (season 5) and List of 24 episodes, but they can not be fully explained at those locations. In addition, often times, these types of episode articles will complement a few other critically acclaimed episode articles to make a season article look very good. They also are useful in the articles of the writers and directors who won or were nominated for the awards.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:34, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
