I propose that Davis Bend, Mississippi be merged into Hurricane Plantation. I think these articles are of the same house/plantation but are under two different names and two different articles.
Groupuscule was sort of under the impression that Hurricane Plantation was one of several establishments located in Davis Bend. Brierfield Plantation another one. We believe there were (at least) six, perhaps all owned by Joseph & Jefferson Davis. (According to BlackPast.org, "Davis Bend" is more commonly used in the period after Davis control, when the area became a farming cooperative for ex-slaves. "Davis Bend" is probably also the best way to describe the area under control of the Union Army, 1863–1865. There was an exodus from Davis Bend to Mound Bayou in 1887.) Certainly all of this could be made more clear in the article. groupuscule (talk) 18:08, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
