Regarding the stuff I removed

[edit]

I have restored them to David Pearce (boxer)/Sandbox. Editors who wish to readd the information should read WP:BLP before continuing. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 11:53, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_Pearce_(boxer)&oldid=716559264. I will be tagging the above page for deletion. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 13:23, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just took a second look and realised it is not a BLP article. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 22:25, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can I ask why the quotes were removed? And the picture of David Pearce?

The quotes were taken from the fight footage and I can confirm the picture is of David Pearce. FinnRiver180 (talk) 09:38, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

FinnRiver180 (talk) 16:53, 22 April 2016 (UTC) I would like to edit the professional heading part?[reply]

I have quotes from two books and quotes from BBC Archives at three major fights of David's career.

I would like the quotes from Reg Gutteridge be added to the professional heading:

"Pearce has won the fight and Pearce has gone berserk, he can hardly believe it!"

"23 year old David Pearce, the Bomber they call him from Newport and he has bombed ferris out of the British heavyweight race!"

"Well that was one of the most savagely, raw, attacking performances we have seen from a British Heavyweight in many years. That's a little bit like the old days of Dick Richardson and he came from Newport too!"

Reg Gutteridge. Post - David Pearce Final eliminator at the Royal Albert Hall.

This is word for word from the official fight footage.

@FinnRiver180: Hi Finnriver180, thank you for your contributions to the article. Can you please provide some form of Youtube link or video link to the original BBC archive footage? Once again, we cannot help you if we cannot find the video. Once again, please refer to WP:VERIFIABILITY. I have also replied to your message on my talk page, if you haven't noted that yet. How do I add a picture?

Images of the Dizengremel statue

[edit]

It's commendable that we now have some very good images of the Dizengremel statue available at Commons. But I'm not quite sure why one of these images could not be placed next to the relevant text in the main body. The gallery is usually reserved for images that are not described in the text. It's also unusual to have three images of the same subject in the gallery. It might be argued that to have more than one is WP:UNDUE. Thanks. Tone for biography

[edit]

The article is written almost entirely in bullet points, contains pseudo-trivia sections such as "Other notable boxing fights", an unnecessary number of external quotations, etc. that all seem to contrast with biography guidelines. I would add tone templates or do rewrites myself, but it seems that parts of these were talk-page requested and approved by other users, so am asking for more experienced opinions. XymphosCraK (talk) 12:06, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's just appalling - entry reads like a fan site, not an encyclopaedia. Most edits seem to have come from a single IP editor, who doesn't appear to have made many other edits around WP and repeatedly reverts edits made by other editors. Little grape (talk) 23:47, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Pattern of IP user appears to be to insert the name Luke Pearce into the article. Little grape (talk) 13:01, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried but so far failed to get the IP editor to engage in some discussion. I think they are editing in perfectly good faith, but are an inexperienced editor and largely a WP:SPA. We can but try to make improvements and hope the IP gets the message. The IP addresses used look like they are dynamic/ probably shared and/or may be masked. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:17, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yet again had to remove huge additions puffing Luke Pearce, a nephew who appears to believe that he deserves his own little biog in his uncle's entry. Little grape (talk) 16:16, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A separate article would be the way to go, notability permitting. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:20, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
'Luke Pearce' appears to have zero notability; seems to relentlessly piggy-back on this article to self-promote himself. Little grape (talk) 15:05, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Currently he is not mentioned anywhere in the article? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:56, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, was simply commenting on your notability note re. Luke. Best. Little grape (talk) 17:49, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Trimmed some of the stuff that's crept back in, and some tidying. Still reads like a fan blog, unfortunately - particularly all those unref'd quotes. Little grape (talk) 15:41, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The trims looked good to me. Thanks! Firefangledfeathers (talk) 15:58, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
All the BS non-reffed content has crept back in over the months. It still reads like a fanpage rather than an encyclopaedia entry, but I've chopped away as much of the dead wood as possible for now. Really needs a complete rewrite TBH. Little grape (talk) 10:31, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox looks ok... Martinevans123 (talk) 10:38, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
... except there is no Boxing record. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:34, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

David Pearce

[edit]

Good Evening,

Can you please tell me why the legacy section has been removed? All of the information is factual and relevant and had references.

Please provide direction and guidance? 78.86.131.103 (talk) 20:54, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

see section above. An SPA (finnriver) seemingly associated with a relation called Luke Pierce has been inserting self-aggrandising content for years (e.g. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/FinnRiver180 edits for 30th July 2021) and the whole entry has turned into an unencyclopaedic mess. This is not a fan page! Little grape (talk) 16:31, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
