[edit]According to Dynamite Kid's book and Bret Harts, Davey Boy and Diana had quickly trademarked the British Bulldog name which led to more animosity between Davey and Tom because Davey wouldnt let him use it when Tom wrestled in other towns. So I am not sure about The WWF allowing Davey to carry on using British Bulldog name in his second WCW run and not in the first (why would they after the Montreal Screwjob and the $150k that Bulldog paid to get out of his contract)
Can anyone confirm this either way (I know I have watched Davey and Harry wrestle as the BBDs in English promotions??)
I think they were also called the BBDs in Japan as well?
Right just check Bulldog WCW in a match teaming with Sting he is announced as the British Bulldog and referred to as the BBD throughout the match...So I will edit the main page Karthikaya (talk) 13:08, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
For Christ's sake, the man was from Wigan, not Leeds. He was born in Golborne, Wigan. I used to drive past his old house all the time. WIGAN. NOT LEEDS.
Yeah Golborne, what's more, the place he trained with Ted is in my village.:oD(193.118.251.61 10:54, 7 April 2006 (UTC))
- But he was billed as being from Leeds early in his WWF career[1]. It's a common thing in wrestling. The Steiner Brothers were always billed as being from Detroit, but coming from a suburb of Ann Arbor in reality.
Height
[edit]Was he really billed as 6ft 3? I'm sure I read he was about 5ft 11, which seems much more likely-The article on The British Bulldogs(tag team) states 5ft 11 too. I know that Wrestlers are often billed with exaggerated heights and weights, but I can't believe anyone would expect us to think he was that tall. He was always clearly shorter than a lot of the guys billed at 6"1 e.g Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.39.155.192 (talk) 23:59, 17 March 2007 (UTC).
Requested move
[edit]The British Bulldog → Davey Boy Smith – A Google search for "'The British Bulldog' wrestler" returns 25,500 results, while a search for "Davey Boy Smith" returns 43,700 results. The latter name is clearly more popular

The Bulldog was a huge WWF star in the 80s and 90s... can we see this article expanded vastly???
GREAT JOB!
Adding back the contract buy-out portion as it is not a rumor and the news can be found anywhere on the internet by a simple search of "Davey Boy Smith" and "$100,000". The other information someone else erased that I put in for his feud with Steve McMichael[2] and his falling out with Bret Hart over his return to the WWF is also easily searchable. Putting it ALL back in. Neoyamaneko
Real name
[edit]Dave Meltzer wrote the following in his book Tributes II:
- Davey Boy Smith (That was his legal name at birth-his mother mistakenly put his sex on his birth certificate in the spot where his midle name was supposed to be)...
I have the change the article to reflect this information.--Darren Jowalsen 02:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Have removed the above due to the apocryphal nature of a Dave Meltzer book in comparison to the UK Register of Births citation. Kmitch87 (talk) 11:58, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
In the UK, it is the registrar, not the parent, who writes the birth certificate out, therefore this cannot be true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.128.14.17 (talk) 10:10, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Removed the claim again. Meltzer might have put it in his book, but it is demonstrably false for many reasons:
- A UK birth certificate is not completed by either parent, but by the local registrar of births, marriages and deaths, who would be clued-up enough to know what information needed to be written in which box
- The gender of a child is recorded on a UK birth certificate as "male" or "female" not "boy" or "girl", so there is no reason for the registrar to have written the word "boy" anywhere on the certificate
- Most tellingly, UK birth registers are searchable online and for Smith, David (mother's maiden name Billington) registered in Leigh in Q4 1962 there is clearly no middle name shown
- Meltzer was clearly just repeating an urban myth or story that someone had told him. I doubt very much that he had actually obtained sight of Davey's birth certificate -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 15:28, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- ChrisTheDude Do you have a link to the birth certificate? I would like to add it to the note I made.*Trekker (talk) 15:32, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- The certificate itself can't be viewwed without subscription, but if you go to [3] and click the "view the original" icon, it brings up the page from the Register of Births, Marriages and Deaths where the birth was recorded. Davey's listing is about three quarters of the way down the left hand column, shown as "Smith, David" (no middle initial) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 15:36, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. Just what I needed.*Trekker (talk) 15:43, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Davey Boy Smith in Stampede
[edit]After Smith was released from the WWF after 1999-2000 stint, he went back to Stampede Wrestling. I think it should be added to the page. But I don't know exactly when he went back to Stampede Wrestling. Mr. C.C. 18:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Affair With Sunny
[edit]Sunny has stated in a couple interviews that Davey Boy cheated on his wife with her after her relationship with Shawn Michaels ended. Some of these interviews are on YouTube. [1] 72.74.148.76 (talk) 21:30, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
