Japanese ability

I'm not sure that his Japanese is as good as this article states. My Japanese friend has said his pronounciation is not as good as a native speaker's and the way he says things (choice of words/sentence structure, not pronounciation) is strange and sometimes hard to understand. If your Japanese friend can find an article or comment supporting this view somewhere on the web or in a printed publication (it doesn't have to be in English), you could say this in the article and cite the reference. I wouldn't doubt it, considering how fabricated his existence is. However, he has done a few speaking tours, so he does have a better command of Japanese than most foreigners, which gives him points. Neoyamaneko

He is a fluent speaker. I'd like to see your Japanese friend go on live TV and try to be entertaining under that type of pressure. In any case, the article, as it stands, is WEAK, INSUFFICIENT, INADEQUATE and wholly unaccepatable on the HOW and WHY and WHEN that he learned the Japanese language. Starhistory22 (talk) 04:30, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Strange math?

POV check

• There's no question about it; this article maintains almost NO neutrality (quite possibly the most offensive example I've come across here). Nor does it provide context (nor sources) except that Spector may at least have actually said what he's quoted as saying here. Mostly comes off as a smug look-at-me-here-in-Tokyo-making-half-a-mil-a-year waxy self-justification page. I've made half-a-mil-a-year too but I'd never lack self-respect as to spout it in any interview of public record; probably not even while nudging-papa-with-a-smirk privately. If there were someone willing to spend the time, there are plenty of other sources about Spector to supply this article, but they might not meet with the subject's approval (by whom this article seems to be written) and judging by the dates on this talk page it seems like there's noone who really cares. Trouble is, Spector is in fact one of the "go-to" gaijin, regularly appearing on any number of Japanese variety shows or as a "panelist" on topical shows, but given the state of such Japanese programming I'm not sure that's something Dave is actually proud of or even something he should be proud of. Even the LA Times article included in the sources sounds like it was written as either tongue-in-cheek "get-a-load-a-this-guy" or as payback puff-piece by some LA-jin for whom Spector helped promote something in Tokyo. I have neither the time or interest myself except to say: Dave! Tend to this! Or have one of your minion tend to this! It might be a laugh simply to know that this kind of ego-stroke existed on wikipedia this long, but ultimately you have to ask yourself "are people laughing with me or at me?"; as a regular on Japanese TV that's a concept you ought to be familiar with! How about paring this entry down to a few short paragraphs...

I'd like to propose a radical BS-tomy of this article. First & foremost, the subject may have some fleeting notablity over on Wikipedia日本, just like the almost uncountable porn actresses who have their own entries, but here he's an absolutely nobody. WP:N

As per feedback on my Talk page, I've taken the scalpel to this one. We'll see if new anonymous reverters don't pop up immediately ;) BTW - does anybody remember that expose one of the Tokyo English weeklys ran on this guy about fifteen yrs ago - the well-documented/researched one that showed he'd been lying about several of his qualifications, ie. membership in the Screen Actors Guild or something like that. Because, as per WP:BLP, claims about religion or ethnicity of living persons require reliable sources to back up the claims presented. A user-edited Wiki-based site unfortunately does not constitute a reliable source. --DAJF (talk) 23:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
