Primary source
[edit]Jewish Voice for Peace and Pen America are PRIMARY. To include statements they made in an article, the notability of the statements will need to be supported by reports in reliable news media, or similar. I removed the sentence.E.M.Gregory (talk) 10:09, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- JVP is also fringe. and Pen - yes - indeed.Icewhiz (talk) 20:09, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Article title and notability
[edit]Nothing in the article supports her notability as a writer/poet. As written, it is an article about a CRIME, and therefore needs to be the article would need to be titled something like "Arrest of Dareen Tatour". IF it can be established that she is a notable writer, especially if she was notable before she was arrested, the title could work and a proper bio page created. As it stands, this is a WP:BLP1E, the singele event is a crime, and it does not appear to be sufficiently notable to pass WP:NCRIME.E.M.Gregory (talk) 10:17, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- I have searched Proquest news archives and books, but can find no mention of her in a Latin alphabet predating her 2016 arrest for incitement to commit violent crimes. This looks like a classic WP:BLP1E.E.M.Gregory (talk) 11:11, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Poetry Foundation is notable enough,[4] as is the BBC's description as a cause celebre. Onceinawhile (talk) 07:15, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- A writer really can't win, can they? If they're "self-published" then they're not a real writer and it doesn't matter what happens to them. But if published writers band together to stand up for them, it becomes an example of those silly literati with their pet causes again. Either way, writers are always too infantile to know what's good for them. It's a good thing we have the Israeli police and justice system to rely on for accurate opinions about the Israeli police and justice system. פֿינצטערניש (talk) 14:29, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Not to mention PEN America and PEN International, at least the former of which has strict criteria for membership and only accepts established writers and editors. פֿינצטערניש (talk) 13:38, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- I cannot find that she is a member of PEN, which does have strict criteria for membership and only accepts established writers. PEN is very active politically, and supports the causes of many non-members.E.M.Gregory (talk) 12:25, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

- Tatour wasn't well known as a poet before, but she is now well-known as a persecuted poet. The coverage of her experience across the world is truly remarkable. Zerotalk 12:55, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- The Hebrew article has roughly equal sections about her career, about her trial, and about public reactions to the trial. The English version needs to be expanded to cover her earlier career.
- I think the trial by itself would make her notable enough for inclusion, in that people would want to find out more about her. Barnyard fowl (talk) 19:34, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Recent edits for context, NPOV, and missing details
[edit]I've added a couple edits in an attempt to give a clearer picture of the:
- range of "Reactions" in the so-named section, which failed NPOV by only including condemnation of her arrests
- obvious, widely reported, yet missing context in which her posts and prosecution took place
- Tatour's initial denial that she had authored her posts—one of the most-reported details of the case
- arguments of both prosecution and defense in the "Trial, sentence and successful appeal" section
- the antecedent to "other social media posts" in the lead
I welcome discussion and additional contributions—thanks! Elle Kpyros (talk) 19:02, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
