Religion/Ethnicity
[edit]Why did you take away the information that he is Jewish? I even provided Russian sources and there are also some other sources like books. So why did you take away this information? --77.10.229.254 (talk) 20:43, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- Don't conflate nationality with religion. Religion is not mentioned with or ahead of nationality, especially if the person is not an ecclesiastical. Acroterion (talk) 04:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- He is an ethnic Jew. Whether or not he is religious and adheres to Judaism, is a totally different question. Being Jewish is an ethnicity. Besides, being Jewish-Russian is an established and reasonable notion. The term "Jewish-Russian" is the right one. Even the other Wikipedia articles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Jews_in_Israel use this term. But if you do not agree with me, you can add the information that he is of Jewish origin after his Russian nationality "[...] is a Russian grandmaster of Jewish origin". --95.112.32.227 (talk) 17:48, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
