"Retractation"

[edit]

Should "retractation" be: "'retractation' (retraction)" or at least "'retractation'"? The longer form may have been current at the time, but is no longer known. --Wikiain (talk) 00:22, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arianism

[edit]

Hi there, this is my first edit to wikipedia so I hope I've done it correctly.

I've removed the section in the lede that suggested Whitby was an Arian. I understand the impulse behind this, but it is quite clear that Whitby did not consider himself as such, and indeed used the term himself as one of abuse in dismissing the work of others. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Treesj (talkcontribs) 12:56, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Postmillenialism

[edit]

As I understand it, Postmillenialism was the view of numerous English Puritans and Scottish Presbyterians before Whitby, many or most of whose doctrine on other matters was more mainstream than this article suggests Whitby's to have been. As such Clarence Larkin's view of Whitby's significance in the matter seems, on the face of it, exaggerated to say the least.--PeterR2 (talk) 19:41, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
