note on geographical and corporate relationship with UH
[edit]The DKICP campus is separate from the UH Hilo campus. Not only is it geographically separate, its conception was unaffiliated with the UH Hilo governing body. One can view the Congressional and State legislation that established the school and note that the dates precede any involvement with the UH Regents governing body.
It is akin to the separate entity that is University of Chicago, Illinois College of Pharmacy. The UIC-CoP has notability warranting its own article while using very similar references as this DKICP page. In fact, the UICCoP page references several its own website.
Placing the DKICP page as a subsection of the UH Hilo main article would be a misrepresentation of the school because it implies that the school is closely affiliated to the other campus. For reference, please also see that the Skaggs School of Pharmacy is a college of pharmacy within the UCSD entity, yet it is also a separate subject than the UCSD campus.
Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.147.124.68 (talk • contribs) 00:19, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

- Note - In this edit, along with leaving this comment, I moved the CC tag to the top of the box above, added a dif of the where Caonashi made the declaration, made a section and here, and added an "unsigned" to Caonashi's declaration. Jytdog (talk) 20:40, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

- Hey Jytdog. Please refer to other College of Pharmacy wikipedia pages, which I also conveniently linked two of which on the talk page of DKICP. The purpose of listing student organizations is pretty clear in my opinion as it lists what is currently active at the institution; most of these organizations are national (and some also have Wikipedia pages). If you notice, other colleges will list organizations without citing them, though I would be glad to add citations to the school's webpage if you think it would improve the section. Please let me know what you think about reintroducing that segment. Caonashi (talk) 11:41, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know what this list means - what are you are trying to communicate? Jytdog (talk) 14:36, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- Are you requesting an explanation to the subsection?Caonashi (talk) 23:38, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
- OK, so you just added "The following national and state organizations are active at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy:" to the content above. I still don't get it. You have a mix of fraternities/sorotities, ALOHA (whatever that is) some professional associations, etc etc. What does this "say"? To whom are you trying to communicate? I don't understand. [edit]Much of the content is taken from:
- Knehans, Amy; Morris, Maggie (2012). Emergence of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo College of Pharmacy (PDF). The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo College of Pharmacy. ISBN 9780615596259.
Please note that this is a self published source and we need to be careful how we use it Jytdog (talk) 20:51, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- I have cited 14 separate references, only one of which is the aforementioned book cited on the page 4 times. Caonashi (talk) 11:41, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- A bunch of the other sources are also WP:SPS. Jytdog (talk) 15:23, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- I have looked into these SPS references, 1 of which was the SPS of the book and the university of hawaii websites, which are used in agreement with the SPS on the verifiability WP. I also looked at many of the Good Article examples on the Colleges & Universities Article Advice WP (this one for random example), and many use SPS to a greater, yet allowable, extent. I was able to find more information on what you were referring to regarding the Organizations portion. I will request edit on that when I look more into how to go about that. Thank you again for your help. Caonashi (talk) 02:10, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- You should not look at other university articles. Lots of them have been heavily edited by students or staff and many are full of crap and puffery and boosterism. But great, please do use the edit request thing going forward, that would be great. Jytdog (talk) 03:00, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Cancer research

- Yes that cites grants to the University of Hawaii and notes that the pharmacy school is a collaborator. That doesn't even come close to supporting the text you wrote, which is very promotional. Jytdog (talk) 03:00, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- "Research Projects: The adipocyte-macrophage interaction: contribution to breast cancer development/Role of c-myc in the tumor promoting actions of oxidized lipids in the colon/MYCN-induced calcium signaling promotes the malignant progression of neuroblastoma" are listed on that page, which are the CoP cancer studies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caonashi (talk • contribs) 05:23, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- Caonashi, this is s really serious thing. do not change the content under discussion, like you did here. Please read the WP:TPG. If you want to propose different content, you can do so, but do it separately. Do not change other user's comments, nor the content under discussion. It makes the thread make no sense. Do you understand? Jytdog (talk) 07:15, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- Jytdog thank you for the TPG. There are so many separate guides and I am still learning how Wikipedia works. I just now noticed the link at the top of the page as well. That's definitely my mistake; I naturally try to prune and trim which lessens transparency here.Caonashi (talk) 22:01, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- it's OK everybody has to learn. I think your change to that content was a recognition that the first version was promotional. right? if you see what I mean, do you really see what I mean, about how your conflict of interest is affecting your editing on this article? This is important for you to understand, both for your life here in WP but in the future, when you read literature about a drug written by the company selling it. (the latter is different since that is legally regulated speech, but I want you to see what COI does to otherwise rational people, without them even being aware of it) Jytdog (talk) 00:35, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
