Boyfriend

[edit]

Got a boyfriend? Got a cute boyfriend? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:5205:A800:C59:8634:ACBB:A1B4 (talk) 03:32, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mother

[edit]

Is this Daisy Ridley's mother Yvonne Ridley, the British journalist held captive by the Taliban in late 2001? Her daughter is named Daisy and would be 21 now. [1] [2] - Dravecky (talk) 05:38, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I added a source that says that she is indeed Yvonne Ridley's daughter, from Canada's paper of record. Nobody else is publishing on this, though. If this is refuted, we can deal with it then. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:12, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Then between the Globe and Mail and the BBC, two impressively reliable sources, her birthday is confirmed as 3 October 1992. If only every future notable person's birthday was the subject of international news coverage... - Dravecky (talk) 20:05, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is a video online that shows Yvonne Ridley and her daughter, Daisy, who is not the Daisy Ridley that has been cast for Star Wars Episode VII.[3] -- User:Charles331 — Preceding undated comment added 06:18, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure? I've never been very good with faces, but it seems to me that there's a striking similarity between the girl in the video (see here at 0:29, for example) and the pictures that we have of the actress (such as this one). The shape of the face is the same; the eyes are the same. The teeth are different (compare the video to this), but she may have had them worked on. The age fits. Can there really be two Daisy Ridleys, both British, of very similar appearance and similar or identical age?
In any case, if we're going to consider for now that we're not sure the actress is the daughter of Yvonne Ridley, we need to remove her date of birth from the article, along with all the sources that rely on her being Yvonne Ridley's daughter. Aridd (talk) 08:16, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
According to this, she's not related to Yvonne Ridley. It seems legit, but I'm not familiar enough with The Mirror to judge its value vs. the value of the other sources. It also confirms some of what was in the "Personal life" section before it was deleted (ex: her sister being a model and the name of that sister). Blaylockjam10 (talk) 10:16, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding that. The Daily Mirror is a tabloid, so generally not all that trustworthy, but in this particular case they've obviously gone and interviewed her family, so we can take it as fact that her parents are called Chris and Louise. No relation to Yvonne Ridley. I'm going to edit the article accordingly to remove the erroneous date of birth. Aridd (talk) 11:11, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I feel bad running with Yvonne now, even though I had it from a reliable source. Oh well. Brits, is the Daily Mail considered an acceptable source?[4] – Muboshgu (talk) 17:53, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Dang, I've never been burned by the Globe and Mail before. - Dravecky (talk) 18:48, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The inherent problem was that Yvonne Ridley has no daughter named Kika-Rose. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 21:25, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a Brit, but I've seen enough talk page debates to know that the status of the Daily Mail is disputed (some people accept it, some people call it the Daily Fail, so whether it's considered a RS varies by page). Since this article is similar to the the Daily Mirror article, I think it's acceptable to use it here. Blaylockjam10 (talk) 00:08, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Daily Mail is like National Enquirer, better with TRUTH than The New York Times or Washington Post but not quotable here (right?) But at least they give you leads which can be cited when found out. -- AstroU (talk) 11:17, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Proposal?

[edit]

Why is this article proposed to be deleted? I think the person in question is notable enough, more so when the next Star Wars films are released.Billybobjoe997 (talk) 17:04, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Citing sources

[edit]

Per WP:MOSREF, "Inline references can significantly bloat the wikitext in the edit window and can become difficult and confusing." Using list-based references makes the test easier to read and edit as well as making re-use of citations simpler. - Dravecky (talk) 20:16, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've never personally been a fan of the reference style currently in place. Is there really a need for it on this stub article? – Muboshgu (talk) 20:33, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
IMHO I find more confusing than easier but that's just me LOL. →Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 20:38, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

Should the picture File:Daisy Ridley.jpg be included in the article? I have concerns that the copyright information (Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication) might be incorrect - the website it comes from is this. Could someone look into it? G S Palmer (talk) 14:11, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's clearly a promotional photo, and unless that was really Jonathan Arun uploading it, it's a copy vio. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:32, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought: I was going to tag it myself but I see that you've already done so. G S Palmer (talk) 17:06, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A portrait-photo or an action-picture always adds; I hope someone finds good ones. -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 23:39, 28 July 2014 (UTC) Sorry, am I, the picture was recently removed; now there is none. -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 01:03, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

VIII and IX information

[edit]

I removed the content that said it was "confirmed" she would be in the film, because the source strictly said it was unconfirmed. An anonymous I.P. seems to have added back the information, with another source from another story, which assumes that she's going to be back. Now, is there anywhere that confirms that she's going to be in the next two movies? As far as I know, her involvement past Episode VII is unknown. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 04:43, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The source that is quoted is not a reliable enough source for this sort of confirmation and does not pass the verifiability guidelines. Not to mention, the source doesn't explicitly state that she is coming back for sure anyway (it states that the "plan" is for her to return). Any and all references to VIII and IX and Daisy Ridley's involvement needs to be deleted. I will be removing this statement.Outcomer (talk) 06:03, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has restored the information stating that she is in the next two episodes. Again the source used does not pass verifiability guidelines. AND the source is so sketchy, the page is not even there anymore. Reverting.

I would appreciate you Wikigods

Poor grammar

[edit]

Please change the last line from "...wanted less distractions " to "wanted fewer distractions ". Jon D. Robinson (talk) 01:56, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, "lended" her voice is not a proper word. It should read "lent" her voice.

Daisy Ridley smears all Trump supporters as "insane."

[edit]

I think her political opinions should be mentioned in the article, like it does in the Mark Hamill article. Apparently, Ridley is even more of a left-wing extremist than Hamill. For, while Hamill only attacks the President, Ridley attacks all of his supporters and half of America. Offsdices, Breitbart is not a reliable source. We consider issues of due WP:WEIGHT, so we would need to see reliable sources covering her comments to a sufficient extent. Also, be careful with POV language like "left-wing extremist", even on a talk page. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:16, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Under Filmography, change her role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker from "Rey Palpatine Skywalker" to "Rey". She is not credited as "Rey Palpatine Skywalker" in the movie, and listing her credit as such could provide unnecessary spoilers to fans who haven't seen The Rise of Skywalker.
