Indian counterpart?

[edit]

What is it?--Dangerous-Boy 09:22, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

okuninushi no mikoto

[edit]

I read that he is identified to the shinto Okuninushinomikoto, and indeed their attributes are the same (mallet, headdress). Should be mentioned in both articles (I'll try to dig up a ref.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.107.163.49 (talk) 11:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do not try to merge this with Mahakala

[edit]

I'm finding that deities such as Fudo Myoo and others are getting absorbed into the original Hindi names and finding this very cumbersome when I do the editing. As indicated by preceding talk topics, this deity whose name Daikoku means "great black", has his origins in Mahakala, the great black destructive aspect of shiva. But he has been naturalized in Japan beyond recognition, and also conflated with Ohkuninushi (as mentioned in previous topic), because Daikoku could also be written in a way that can be pronounced Ohkuni. I may not work on this article at this time, but this pieced of information is definitely stated in certain books I've examined. Kiyoweap (talk) 09:09, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

daikokuten is mixture of Okuninushi and Shiva.

[edit]

daikokuten is mixture of Shinto and the Buddhism. 220.96.4.14 (talk) 22:37, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Daikoku-tenDaikokuten – "Daikokuten" is a more common spelling. See "Daikokuten":"Daikoku-ten". --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 10:10, 12 June 2015 (UTC) Iokseng (talk) 02:10, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
