Merger proposal

[edit]

I recently created Cup noodle article, and propose that Cup Ramyeon be merged into it. Keop-ramyeon (컵라면; keop is a Korean transliteration of the English word "cup") is a generic term for instant cup noodles in Korean, as the word ramyeon refers to instant noodles. I think that the content in the Cup Ramyeon article can easily be explained in the context of Cup noodle, and the merging of two articles will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned, since both articles are very short. --Brett (talk) 01:46, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All over Asia there are endless types of cup noodles, cup ramen and whatever else. They are all effectively Instant noodle types - sold in a cup instead of a flat pack. IMO, Cup Ramyeon, Cup noodle and any other possibly existing articles should roll into Instant noodle and have their own sections there as special variety of instant noodle. In terms of detail, the articles for Cup noodle and Cup Ramyeon are redundant as they don't really add any detail in the way they are written now. I agree that the articles should be merged, and most likely as suggested by Jake Brockman, into the Instant noodle article, unless (or until) that article's length suggests a page needs to be broken off. Onel5969 TT me 12:57, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The article disappeared, so.. I'm withdrawing the merger proposal. I'm not sure if it is a good idea to merge this article into instant noodle, as this can be a good subtopic article. Cup noodles article exist in Cantonese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Thai Wikipedias (The links redirect to those articles.) and among them Japanese and Korean articles are of a considerable length. --Brett (talk) 14:21, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal Revisit

[edit]

I propose merging this article with the Instant noodle article, which is a well developed encyclopedic entry covering cup-based noodles, their history, and brands/occurances per country just as this article does. As a sub-topic, this article offers little over the Instant noodle article. Incorporation of this article and all of its data will serve this topic well, and improve accessability of this information to the Wikipedia community. This merger solves the issues brought up in each of the above topics. Nicholas SL Smithchatter 23:15, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This article is way too similar to the Cup Noodles article (just look at the first paragraph, for instance), so it would be best to split it between the instant noodles and Cup Noodles articles somehow... - OpalYosutebito (talk) 12:22, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
